Tuesday, December 30, 2003. Have seen a few movies recently, but don't feel up for doing more than mini reviews (read; picking on small faults) so, in order of viewing:. There was a lot of humour derived from the utter hopelessness and stupidity of the characters, especially Jonny Spitz played by David Wenham. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not one to suffer fools gladly but setting people, or stereotypes, up to take potshots at them doesn't strike me as particularly clever or funny. This one I would ...

Saturday, July 31, 2004. Apparently Scotvec is actually SCOTVEC. Which stands for Scottish Vocational Education Council. Mystery solved, althought it seems to make the word ranky thing very specific to the UK and less fun for me. Posted by Amy @ 11:46 AM. Amy is the 7896th most used word in the English language. It just beats teenager, but is beaten a few words up by 'scotvec' which I have never heard of. Posted by Amy @ 11:41 AM. Tuesday, July 20, 2004. That time of the month. Posted by Amy @ 7:45 PM.

White City: May 2007
http://whitcity.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Empty of future, renew the sign: lucent paradox, ineluctable trace . As the tag on my taxi driving blog has it, at a nodal point where destinies fork. I do value this knowledge. It's Little Johnny at his most unctuous, someone's broadcasting Question Time, very loud, out across the very suburb where the malheureux. Was spawned and grew up, although I think the family home might have been a little to the south of Dulwich Hill, in Earlwood. 1952) I've just re-read my father's copy of his The Odyssey. The p...

White City: October 2006

Empty of future, renew the sign: lucent paradox, ineluctable trace . Recall returning once to Sydney from the South Coast and seeing the towers of the City ahead, rising nacreous out of the grey-green of the schlerophyll forest - like bones afloat on a shimmering haze of gasoline residue. A whited sepulchre . it's from the Gospel of Matthew, 23:27:. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Probably the most famous literary usage of this motif is in Joseph Conrad's. Referring perhaps to Brussels:.

White City: The Road to Rock ‘n’ Roll
http://whitcity.blogspot.com/2008/06/road-to-rock-n-roll.html
Empty of future, renew the sign: lucent paradox, ineluctable trace . The Road to Rock ‘n’ Roll. Ask the music what it means. How do you do it? Moments of awakening can be sudden, absolute, irrevocable. There is no going back because there is no way back. The new has cancelled the old. And my world changed. Of course I’d heard music on the radio before. And on record. Our parents had at least two long playing records that I knew more or less by heart: My Fair Lady. Love potion number nine. Written by Leib...

Thursday, April 22, 2004. In other news met Angus. Yesterday as he was giving a guest lecture in one of my subjects. Was kind of weird cos sat in lecture with the whole should I/shouldn't I go say hi dilemma, which was finally resolved my refusal to be a pathetic idiot. The time. I Feel Love. Was the first blog I started reading before I even really knew blogs existed so I was kind of nervous, and I think rightly so, although other people. Were kind of mean to me about it. And I got a mention. Uni Melb W...

Monday, March 29, 2004. No, she said. No, she said. She don’t know how. This is a bad day. This is a bad day. Posted by Amy @ 5:54 PM. Have also decided that I like the term 'make out' as in "lets make out! Like snog, or pash or whatever. I think 'make out' has a nice tone to it and covers more ground than the mere kiss, cos it's not like your ever only kissing anyway. Have decided new pick up technique is going to be asking the prospective boy "Do you wanna make out? Yay to making out! Baring in mind my...
