Sigiriya Lion Rock Tour. After the village tour, we headed back to the hotel to cool off with a relaxing swim. Late afternoon, we headed over to Sigiriya Lion Rock for a guided tour. Since Lucy’s ankle was still recovering, we’d already decided that we wouldn’t risk climbing up to the very top, in case of further injury but it turned out to be a good decision as the kids were shattered and our guide heard that there was a wasp attack on the second section;. Our first day in Kandy would be a very cultural one. We did the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Temple of the Tooth Relic, taken around a gem museum and went for a tuk-tuk ride downhill! Given how tired the girls were getting with all the walking, when we arrived at Royal Botanic Gardens our guide suggested that we hire a golf car (with driver) to take us around. This week would be declared as. Our holiday within our holiday. We were told that Pasikudah is the pick of the region’s beaches. The bay is reef-protected, making it safe and calmer for swimming and snorkelling. Still when the tide came in the waters were a little murkier for snorkelling. Most of our days were spent exploring the resort, walks down the beach, snorkelling, snoozing in hammocks, playing in the pool, lazing by the pool, eating by the pool. Oh, did we mention that we were by the pool?

Sat-nav said that the journey would be 4-hours (from Sheffield), adding an hour for pit-stops – 5-hours … I didn’t expect the M25 would add an extra hour to the drive! 6-hours later… we arrived in Brighton! Once we got the girls to sleep, we enjoyed a fantastic Thai take-away and a couple of bottles of wine.

Visiting Matt & Lucy. Posted by Lee Kelleher. Under VW Campervan Trip 2013. Upon leaving Farmer Ted’s Farm Park, we headed over to sunny Sheffield to visit Matt and Lucy. The drive over was a typical M62 rush-hour journey – lots of traffic, many “go slow” bits – all good fun! We arrive at Matt’s house in time for dinner — a build-your-own gourmet burger – which the girls loved! Followed by a build-your-own ice-cream sundae – which the girls loved x10!
