Bringing Jack Home: December 2008
http://bringingjackhome.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 26, 2008. Reunion - We are home! We finally made it. What a return trip. As a practical matter - we were sick of eggs and bacon for breakfast every morning, sick of noodles, sick of hearing people slurp their noodles, sick of being "accosted" by sales staff every time we approached a store or restuarant, sick of being stared at, sick of receiving child raising advice from every "grandmotherly" Chinese woman within 15 feet of us, and sick of really hard beds. Jack is now home. Bonding wit...

Bringing Jack Home: December 2007
http://bringingjackhome.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 20, 2007. Here is Jack's new family! I wonder what he will think of us? He has a brother who cannot wait to meet him - he's feeling a little outnumbered, I think. Thursday, December 13, 2007. It was only a year ago that we came home from China with our daughter, Jenna. We had heard that she had a "boyfriend" who was looking for her once she had left. Little did we know at the time that they would once again be united. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Together in China . The Thornton Family 5.

Bringing Jack Home: November 2008
http://bringingjackhome.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, November 27, 2008. What is in a name? And give a listen to one of his podcasts. Saturday, November 1, 2008. At day 102, not very close to the expected day 70, we finally received our LOA (Letter of Acceptance)! We had stopped counting days because it was a little daunting seeing day 80 then day 90 go by. So, for sanity's sake, we stopped looking at the calendar. As it turns out, we got a sweet treat for Halloween in the form of a phone call from our agency. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). He looks ...

Bringing Jack Home: March 2009
http://bringingjackhome.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 13, 2009. One Surgery Down . Jack had the first of his corrective surgeries for hypospadia repair in February and came through like a trooper! We were sent home with heavy-duty pain meds, but he only needed two doses of regular Tylenol. He was so ready to go home (we had to spend the night) and would ask the nurse each time she came in, "All done? We're really pleased with the doctor, too. Jack's next surgery is tentatively scheduled for August. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Together in China .

Bringing Jack Home: First Trip to the Beach!
http://bringingjackhome.blogspot.com/2009/07/first-trip-to-beach.html
Wednesday, July 1, 2009. First Trip to the Beach! We like to make an annual stop at the beach to unwind, and Gulf Shores is one of our favorite stops. I tried to prepare Jack, who has never seen the ocean, by checking out some books at the library. My efforts were in vain, however, because he was convinced that the beach was a building! Every so often he would point at a building and ask, "Is that beach? Could life be any grander? You betcha. He's as smart as a whip and catches onto things quickly; h...

Bringing Jack Home: January 2009
http://bringingjackhome.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, January 28, 2009. He likes to purposely give me the wrong answers to questions, but his face gives him away each time. He can't help but crack a goofy smile at me. He is learning that he can eat until he is full, and that candy does not really count as a food. ;0) Now, if Jenna would just understand this! He sings his heart out to the all-time. Classic, "I love you, you love me ." and "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star." He really dislikes cheese . even macaroni and cheese. Go figure. And Lane, who...

Bringing Jack Home: February 2008
http://bringingjackhome.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Monday, February 18, 2008. We were surprised and excited to receive an update about Jack from a friend. He is doing well! Sunday, February 10, 2008. Legacy of an Adopted Child. Once there were two women who never knew each other. One you do not remember, the other you call Mother. Two different lives shaped to make you one. One became your guiding star, the other became your sun. The first one gave you life, and the second taught you to live it. One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name.
