More 4 The Fam. Sunday, February 14, 2010. Raby: George Washington Raby II and Elizabeth Killian. Location of Lenoir, North Carolina. 35°54′30″N. 81°31′48″W. My great grandmother, Dora ("Annie" Raby) Tennent, was born and buried in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC. 1870-1936. Dora's parents were George Washington Raby II, b. 1836, and Elizabeth Catherine Killian, b. 1839, and they would have been married about 1860. I would like to find the date and place of their marriage, and where each was born. Back in 1996,...
More 4 The Fam: Durfee: Farewell Big Ridge Baptist Church

More 4 The Fam. Saturday, February 13, 2010. Durfee: Farewell Big Ridge Baptist Church. The little white-framed and steepled church that sat at the edge of the Durfee-McCormick-Prowell land is gone. As the congregation dwindled, a decision was made to tear it down rather than let it deterioriate. The church bell remains, I'm told, and perhaps will become a memorial. Cottage Grove Township, Harrisburg, Saline Co, IL. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Durfee: Farewell Big Ridge Baptist Church.

More 4 The Fam. Monday, February 15, 2010. Raby: The Team Zeroes in on Lincoln Co. JC, retired civil engineer living close to the Raleigh-Durham Triangle but connected by his youth to western NC, is tapped into the LDS files and convinces us to focus on Lincoln Co. It's something of a leap. The 1830 census shows ROBY boys living near a George who's immigrated from Maryland and the ages and the names are a reasonable match. We really don't have any other viable choices. Me I tell stories. I think I'm ...
