Trombone Shorty | trumpetista's brass quintet blog

Trumpetista's brass quintet blog. By bringing up Trombone Shorty, I’m probably veering dangerously off-topic, but he really cannot go unmentioned. The people need to know! Trombone Shorty (real name – Troy Andrews) is a jazz musician from New Orleans, who at the young age of 27 has played with virtually every major jazz artist on the planet. You can find videos of this guy playing in Wynton’s band at the age of 9! Here he is, updating a REALLY old standard. This entry was posted in ABEL Posts. You are co...

Our Brass Quintet Heritage | trumpetista's brass quintet blog

Trumpetista's brass quintet blog. Our Brass Quintet Heritage. I really like the diagram below, because it clearly lays out the members, the length of time they played with the group, who else they played with in the group, and on the American Brass Quintet website. A similar diagram can be found on the Canadian Brass website. Section of their website in the form of a timeline so that it is easy for someone to see which members played on what recording. a midwestern tale: February 2010
http://amidwesterntale.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
I moved to iowa for the corn. Wednesday, February 17, 2010. A Little Bit of Iowa City. Here are some pictures that I took over the past few days on my way to and from class. This is the hospital parking garage near my house. Note how the snow is piled up to the second level! I finally dug my car out of the snow! On my way to class- you can see the Pentacrest building in the background. Walking back from teaching my class. The buildings in the background are across the river. Frozen river under the bridge!

I moved to iowa for the corn. Friday, March 18, 2011. I went bowling with Rachel, Ryan, and Matt a few weeks ago. We used 30 Rock names- I was Lemon, Rachel was Maroney, Ryan was Dot Com, and Matt was Grizz. I may in fact be the world's worst bowler. My all-time low score was in 4th grade with a 26. I bowled a 25 on our third game that night. How sad. It was fun, though! Pizza at the Wedge before bowling. My strategy was to run and hurl the bowling ball. It didn't quite work out for me.

I moved to iowa for the corn. Sunday, October 24, 2010. Last weekend Rachel and I carved pumpkins and had a autumn extravaganza in our apartment! Rachel baking Halloweeny cookies! Honey Crisp Apple Cider and delicious cookies. Me with our spider Rupert. Goodies my mom sent. Post carving: Rachel's Jack the Pumpkin King and my owl on a tree. Links to this post. a midwestern tale: Thanksgiving 2010

I moved to iowa for the corn. Monday, November 29, 2010. I had a wonderful time over Thanksgiving break! It was great to visit with my family and friends, and we ate so much good food! Apple Cranberry dish (Lauren's favorite) with the fancy punch I made. Pop enjoying his punch and watching football before lunch. So Many. Dishes. Mom always decorates the table so nicely! 20 lb turkey- half was baked and half was grilled, both were delicious (says the "vegetarian"). The dinner crew and food.

I moved to iowa for the corn. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. The snow piled up about a foot over our side door. Rachel trying to climb back in. Good thing she was wearing warm pajamas :). The snow covered our covered porch and eliminated our front steps. After our neighbors and us shoveled the driveway for a few hours. Our cars were packed in good. You wouldn't know this by looking, but there is an entire car buried in snow on the left. I hope no one is in the car. I shoveled the sidewalk! Links to this post.

http://amidwesterntale.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-years.html
I moved to iowa for the corn. Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Chris and I went hiking at Elachee for his birthday/New Years Eve. He had no idea what we were going to do that day, so it was a fun surprise. I packed us a picnic complete with a birthday brownie and birthday candle :). The Big Oak Tree," as my campers call it. I love this guy. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Iowa City, Iowa, United States. View my complete profile. Alex Ross: The Rest Is Noise. One frame at a time.

I moved to iowa for the corn. Sunday, January 24, 2010. The Chris Butler Social Experiment Olympics. Chris, our hilarious phone conversation the other day inspired this post. Thanks for always trying to make me laugh. The next time you are in a public place, try some of these "activities" or experiments. 1 The Door Run. 2 The Awkward Half-Smile Stare. Well that's it. Let me know the results of your experimenting. As the great scientist Bill Nye would say, "Science rules! Links to this post.
