http://articles.jamesbaquet.com/2009/05/articles-and-stuff.html
More in the Library. An archive of things I've written. More about the articles. Wednesday, May 27, 2009. I've been writing since before I can remember. This facility got me through university with a minimum of hassle (so why'd it take six years? In this collection you'll find old school papers, articles I've written for magazines, pieces of unfinished books, and the stuff I've recovered from other websites I've operated. Longer pieces will link out to archives elsewhere on the net for easier viewing.

More in the Library. An archive of things I've written. More about the articles. Saturday, July 4, 2009. A Lifetime Reading List a la Joseph Campbell. This reading list was developed by Joseph Campbell for his Mythology class at Sarah Lawrence College. It was published in Appendix 2 of The Mythic Dimension. Edited by Antony Van Couvering. Campbell replied by saying that she had misunderstood him. The list wasn't meant to be read that semester; they had the rest of their lives to read it! I did in Japan.

Articles: from the Library at JamesBaquet.com: Transparent to Transcendence
http://articles.jamesbaquet.com/2009/06/transparent-to-transcendence.html
More in the Library. An archive of things I've written. More about the articles. Thursday, June 25, 2009. Several years ago, I had a blog in which I re-published some of my more interesting correspondence. One of the letters I published there was regarding the phrase used by Joseph Campbell, Transparent to Transcendence. As of this date, if you Google that phrase, my crappy old blog is the first to come up. Still, the article gives several perspectives on the meaning of this phrase. It's worth a look.

At the Feet of Sri Ramakrishna: A Wisdom Blog at JamesBaquet.com: From a Scrawl to a Fine Hand
http://ramakrishna.jamesbaquet.com/2009/08/from-scrawl-to-fine-hand.html
Finding wisdom for our everyday lives in the words of one of India's greatest saints. More about Sri Ramakrishna. From a Scrawl to a Fine Hand. A boy begins to learn writing by drawing big scrawls, before he can master a finer hand. So we must learn concentration of the mind by fixing it first on forms; and when we have attained success at that, we can more easily fix it upon the formless. At the Feet of Sri Ramakrishna: A Wisdom Blog at JamesBaquet.com: From Big Targets to Small
http://ramakrishna.jamesbaquet.com/2009/08/from-big-targets-to-small.html
Finding wisdom for our everyday lives in the words of one of India's greatest saints. More about Sri Ramakrishna. From Big Targets to Small. A marksman learns to shoot by first taking aim at large objects; the better he gets, the easier it becomes to hit smaller things. So when the mind has been trained to fix on images with form, it becomes easier to fix it upon images having no form. See the notes to " A Bell Rings With and Without Form.
