Thursday, August 12, 2010. DALTON GHETTI - THE POINT OF A PENCIL. The realm of the minaiture is often the result of extreme patience, obsession with small things as well as the astounding results of time based hand works. Dalton Ghetti creates sculptures made entirely from the graphite lead at the tip of a pencil. The works are carved without any magnifying lens using only a standard sewing needle, a razor blade, a sharp sculpting knife and a very steady hand. One work is a series of pencils each with a ...

Friday, February 24, 2012. BIG and SMALL – Jean-Francois Fourtou. As we grow from child to grown up, our perceptions change. What seemed a giant’s world when we were small slowly turns into a place much smaller than we remembered when our senses were so well tuned to our immediate surroundings. The world has changed. We grow accustomed to the strange but familiar rooms of our minds. And a video tour of the Jean-Francois Fourtou Dar el Sadaka studio in Marrakech, Morocco. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Upcom...

Saturday, July 12, 2014. These were boats of the imagination. Vessels that carried our dreams. To me there is no distinction between the force of the cultural and spiritual imagination of civilizations and the playful power of toy boats in the hands of a child. ARMADA - JACOB HASHIMOTO. Toy boats in the rough seas of the art world have made a few voyages of note. Artist, Jacob Hashimoto created "Armada".a flotilla of toy sailboats as a kinetic installation at the Studio La Citta Gallery in Verona...Took ...

Monday, January 17, 2011. FRANK KUNERT - SMALL WORLDS. Kunert’s models are made with extreme reality in mind. He works on the miniatures for months before the lights come on and the camera shutter clicks. Everything about the constructions is meant for that moment of creating the illusion and telling the story. Often the story is a word play or a subtle jab at how the punch line is delivered. The Dream of Fortune. At a High Level. In Depth of Ecstasy. An interview with Frank Kunert. F K - When I started ...

Saturday, January 26, 2013. ASSEMBLED DREAMS - MARC GIAI-MINIET. I find these works have a deep pull that draws me into the miniature corridors, up the stair cases and through the doorways to see if I can find the traces of the story left here. Marc’s impeccable detailing causes me to pause, wipe a small finger across a dusty bookshelf imagining the abandoned memory of the subconscious. LANDING THE STARRY SKY. BOX CALLED THE LARGE SLEEVE.
