Frustrated English Teacher: December 2009
http://frustratedenglishteacher.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
A blog of books. Tuesday, December 1, 2009. Some books I read. Yeah, I know. Sigh. Not so much with the NaBloPoMo on this blog. I find that trying to keep up with three blogs takes away from my reading time and that's something I've never been willing to sacrifice, so that's just how that has to be. But anyway, I read some books. Julia Glass's I See You Everywhere. I found that I didn't truly love either Louisa or Clem as individuals, but I did love them together. Perhaps that is part of Glass's over...

Sparks' Notes: January First
http://lindseysparks.blogspot.com/2012/10/january-first.html
Monday, October 15, 2012. For some reason, I thought this was a novel until I started reading and realized it’s a memoir. Oops. It actually reads like a novel in many ways, with an intriguing narrative and tight writing. The raw emotion spilling forth from it surprised me though. Usually people, even those writing memoirs, step back and don’t put quite everything out there the way Michael Schofield does. Who believes them when they talk about how hard she is to handle? November 2, 2012 at 4:22 PM. I orig...

Frustrated English Teacher: February 2009
http://frustratedenglishteacher.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
A blog of books. Tuesday, February 17, 2009. Tuesday Teaser: The Book Thief. I started reading this book yesterday and I have to say, I am addicted to it. It's hard to tear yourself away from a book about Nazi Germany where the narrator is Death. Seriously, Death. Never did I think that Death would have such a wry sense of humor, although I guess you'd have to, to be able to deal with that kind of work (which is how he describes it). Sunday, February 15, 2009. 2009 Challenge: What's In a Name? So, rather...

Frustrated English Teacher: May 2009
http://frustratedenglishteacher.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
A blog of books. Saturday, May 23, 2009. So Noone Told You Life Was Going to be This Way. It seems like the last few books I've read have centered around the power for friendship as opposed to that of romantic love. Certainly, The Space Between Us, A Thousand Splendid Suns. And Snowflower and the Secret Fan. Have all focused on the relationships between women as they navigate their way through fairly hostile male-dominated societies. Even These Granite Islands. And Love Walked In. Cornelia is faced with ...

Cynical Optimism: March 2014

I desire only to know the truth, and to live as well as I can- Socrates. The Impossible: This is a couple years old, about a real-life family which survived the tsunami in Thailand. If it wasn't a true story i would have said it was too good to be true. Not a bad movie, some super scary parts involving the tsunami. a 5. Rush: Thor races cars! He's lovely and the car action was great. a 6. Machete Kills: ok, goofy, splattery action. worth watching. a 6. Quick note to let the world know I am still alive.

I desire only to know the truth, and to live as well as I can- Socrates. Readathon wrap up post! I made it to 2:45 in the morning. I was super tired and that's when B got in from work so I told him goodnight and went to sleep. Even if I'd been able to drink caffeine I don't know that I would have stayed up any later. I also want to thank #teamwordsworth for cheering me on. Maybe next readathon I'll be a cheerleader for a bit. Books finished: Book of Ages: The Life and Opinions of Jane Franklin. Hopping o...

I desire only to know the truth, and to live as well as I can- Socrates. American Hustle: very good and the ending was not what I was expecting. I am really glad i was only a very little child in the late 70's as those clothes would not have worked for me. a 6. In A World: Really funny movie about women in the film industry, specifically the voice-over market. See anything Lake Bell does, she's fabulous. a 7. I write up short reviews for the books I read during the Readathon! In this one, Timothy Wilde (...
