Allen and Karis Family Adventures. Wednesday, May 27, 2009. I can't believe June is just a few days away. May has been a busy month for us. Here are some of the highlights. First and foremost was Eliza's 6th Birthday! She is such a joy in our family! She got a book called "A Princess Primer" and was on cloud nine. Before she went to school on her birthday (afternoon kindergarten) we had princess lessons. We learned all about what makes a fairy godmother, how to step out of a carriage and how to curtsy.

A quick visit to Utah. We went to Utah last weekend for Zach's sister's wedding. Stupidly we didn't take any photos to share, but here are some from the other things we did. We went hiking near Red Butte Gardens with Zach's family. After all my years living in Utah and never seeing a snake, we saw two that day. A small water snake and a good-sized rattler. Yikes! And we thought Missouri was wild. We got to meet Troy's newest member of the family. A beagle puppy named Copper. So cute. Kate with her pup.

Thanksgiving in New Hampshire. We headed to New Hampshire to spend Thanksgiving with my sister and family. On the way to get groceries, we stopped by an alpaca farm and were given the tour. A kiss from Cooper. Look how untrusting Lizzie is. They're wondering why he's wearing lambs wool. We took the girls out in the forest to gather nature to make a centerpiece. The girls really liked the crook in this tree and wanted their picture taken. Sophie LOVED running free in the forest. Anna loves the ocean.

Zach had the opportunity to participate in the National Arts Festival in South Africa this summer and since my goal was to travel to Africa by the time I was 30, I had to go along. Here is a random spattering of photos in random order from our trip. We were lucky enough to go on two safaris and spend a beautiful day in Cape Town. License plate of our safari vehicle. White lion and cub. Zach, Reggie and Erik at the lodge for lunch. The only primate we saw (besides each other). Can't remember what this is.

Friday, January 4, 2008. Surprise Trip to Portland. For Brooke's birthday I flew to Portland for the weekend to surprise her. Brooke's sister Shelley and nephew Carson also surprised her for her birthday. They arrived on Thursday.
