Information, tips, and other interesting finds on this personal journey. Tips & Tricks. You are here: Home. In Honor of Grandma. I'm going to be doing a few posts this week about my maternal grandmother's ancestry in honor of her. Monday, May 10, 2010. Happy Mom's Day, 2010. Image 1 (below). Front cover of the photo album which I gifted to Mom on Mother's Day this year. That's me with a cowboy holster around my waist kissing Mom; there is a similar picture of my brother and Mom on the inside. By the way, Mom is Mary Margaret, born Gailliot. Now, to do an album of my father's pictures. I was able to insert a total of 45 pictures in my album. But, I still had many more pictures. So, I created a video slide show. Family Tree Maker Ho...

Life's Journey: August 2012
http://travelstwo.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 31, 2012. How many direct ancestors have I found on my pedigree in 10 generations (out of 1022 possible persons)? To find the answer, I created an “Ancestors” report, including generation numbers, in my computer genealogy program, Ancestral Quest. I did not include myself since I’m really not an ancestor yet. Then, I added up the known ancestors in each generation. Details are shown in the table below (click to enlarge). Randy Seaver of the blog, GeneaMusings, calls the percent knowledge o...

Life's Journey: This is a test of my new iPad
http://travelstwo.blogspot.com/2011/10/this-is-test-of-my-ipad.html
Sunday, October 16, 2011. This is a test of my new iPad. I can't seem to upload an image from my iPad. Or, do anything with this "new interface" including swtching back to the old. Patience. I'll keep trying. I can add more text but only if I use the HTML option. Oh boy, what a mess. It's 0900 and time to hit the road again. Beautiful Fall weather- can't stay inside and worry about this stuff. Wish the "help" were written in English. What the heck does "send an MMS" mean? America, slow down and enjoy life.

Life's Journey: March 2010
http://travelstwo.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 31, 2010. Jump and Smile- It's Spring. Art emailed to me from the Grandkids. That might be Emma and Christina and the guy in the middle might be Dad or Pawpaw. But since he has blue eyes and no hair, I would put my money on "Pawpaw". Have a Great Spring everybody. Sunday, March 7, 2010. Who do you think you are? Premier episode in America. I believe it is necessary, if at all possible, to go back to the homelands of your ancestors to do research, as Sally did, in going back to Cincinnati...

Life's Journey: Groovin' at GRIPitt
http://travelstwo.blogspot.com/2012/07/groovin-at-gripitt.html
Thursday, July 26, 2012. Should I take the time in the middle of the night to write in this blog or should I roll back over and catch more Z's so that I'll be fresh for more German genealogy lectures at this year's GRIPitt conference? That stands for Genealogical Reseach Institute of Pittsburgh and it's a week-long, intensive, genealogical course with both Day and evening lectures and some hands-on exercises to do as well. Life's Journey: March 2011
http://travelstwo.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 2, 2011. New Additions to my Pedigree. For a frame of reference, this was my pedigree BEFORE I spent a week collecting data at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. Well, my time is up in Salt Lake City. Time to pack my computer, my notes, and my clothes into a suitcase and fly back to Charlotte, NC. Before I left for SLC. Also, I had the opportunity to see changes that are happening at the Library. For example, the Library catalogue is searched by going to FamilySearch.
