Goosebumps |
https://anniemolson.wordpress.com/2013/03/26/goosebumps
A Leap of Faith. March 26, 2013. Of all the silly sayings high schools teachers have, I found this to be the most annoying (even more annoying than my junior high science teacher saying And I’m as serious as a heart attack whenever he threatened to punish someone). People get goosebumps when they are cold, so why in the world did Mrs. Helgerson always say this when she heard us sing? So what triggered me to think about Mrs. Helgerson’s goosebumps and special educator moments? From → Uncategorized. The fi...

A Leap of Faith. February 6, 2013. While struggling is natural and helps us grow, I still find myself feeling anxious about this upcoming transition. Why do I have to face such another big change when I feel like I am just starting to figure this last part out? While moving closer to Ben makes me excited and optimistic about the changes to come, I also find it raising additional questions and concerns. In their chapter of Job One. Let's Do This! Follow me through my journey as a higher education professional. April 1, 2013. I didn’t work this hard the past two years to suddenly let things slide. It’s really not an option. I’ve been proud of the work I’ve produced thus far and want nothing more than to be my proudest yet at the end of my final semester. This might mean late nights and fun-less weekends, but you only get your master’s once (Or, do you? For now, let’s hope so! What could I have done differently? Accountability and as...

The Art of Doing Nothing and Everything at the Same Time! Happy Spring Break Everyone! Like many others, I’m sure, I have a long list of things to do for Spring Break, all with the goal of getting ahead! Emphasis on “the goal! 8221; However, yesterday morning when I got up I thought what am I going to for “me” this break! I went for a run, it has been about a month since I ran and while it wasn’t pretty, I did it! I enjoy running and have allowed work and exhaustion to be viable excuses for not doing so!

Let's Do This! Follow me through my journey as a higher education professional. December 18, 2013. Love this. The students at Drake have already begun their winter break, which means our office is a little quieter than usual this week. I know my higher ed friends would agree when the students take off, there’s an entirely different vibe on campus. A little lonely, but also refreshing and calm a nice time to reflect on things and get organized for what’s ahead. But, all have entirely different strengths.

Let's Do This! Follow me through my journey as a higher education professional. October 2, 2013. It’s been forever since I’ve written! I had every intention to keep up with this blog, but so far I’ve been failing! For my job, I do TONS of writing, so I haven’t been exactly motivated to write for this blog. But, as I’m having a particularly challenging week, I thought of my cohort, and wondered if anyone else could use a little inspiration or cheering up. Recognizing strengths →. Thank you, Dr. Evans!

Let's Do This! Follow me through my journey as a higher education professional. March 19, 2013. Preparing for THE Presentation. It is hard to believe two years have passed since submitting my application to the student affairs program at Iowa State University. I remember working on my personal statement for months, wanting it to be just right. I wrote at least five drafts and had just about every family member proof read it. (Lucky them! Or, student affairs? Or, educational leadership and policy studies?

Let's Do This! Follow me through my journey as a higher education professional. April 17, 2013. Yesterday, my cohort and I listened to the final set of Capstone presentations in our Capstone course. I mentioned in a previous post how much I’ve enjoyed listening to these presentations. Each of us was asked to present on our learning over the past two years in relation to the ACPA and NASPA Professional Competency Areas for Student Affairs Practitioners. I remember it was probably almost exactly a year ago...
