LAWRENCE NEUMEISTER: WORKING THE STREET
http://lawrenceneumeister.blogspot.com/2008/06/working-street.html
Two months in Florence. Sunday, June 22. I am saying goodbye to Florence in just over a week. I’ll post a few pictures. But I think I will be too busy to write much (did I hear a chorus of Halleluiahs? Your pictures for tonight don’t even include my favorite violinist, the nightly flutist or the opera lady. Those are all on video. These pictures are just a few of the many performers and artists that help fill this city with so much life. I thank them. Joe Bellanca Ibiza Villas.

Two months in Florence. Saturday, June 21. Yesterday was an ordinary day. Breakfast and the news on-line. A shave and a shower and I was on my way. By the way I have become quite proficient at taking a shower. Yes, I know that sounds strange. But…. As I re-read that last sentence it sounds like he usually makes the sign of the cross when I get into his line. That is not what I meant. He doesn’t. But after the previous experience with me I wouldn’t have blamed him if he had. He Haw, He How". The “Pa...

Two months in Florence. Wednesday, June 4. NO TIME TO CHAT. Monday, June 2. FESTIVAL OF THE REPUBLIC. I got up with a list of things to do and what did Italy decide to do? Even the walk to the gym was fruitless. Closed. I dumped my gym stuff, grabbed the camera, ordered my favorite sweet treat from the shop down the street and just started walking. Most of the day was in the Oltrarno (south of the Arno) in an aimless zig and zag. The following is the result of my aimless walking. Santo Spirito church (we...

Two months in Florence. Saturday, April 19. TEN DAYS AND COUNTING. Ten days before I leave and I have finally started to get things ready. I looked at steamer trunks (just kidding.only LARGE luggage) for everything I will be taking. Remember it will be cool in May and then move (hopefully) to much warmer weather. So. coats to a bathing suit. I have started to change over my mailing address as the post office will only hold mail for 30 days. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). TEN DAYS AND COUNTING.

Two months in Florence. Saturday, May 31. Although it probably aired out the distinct fragrance of the old vinyl, covering the equipment at Palestra Ricciardi that transferred to my gym clothes. Having been sat on for a few decades, vinyl and leather always has such a distinctive “herd” scent. The acoustics of my building, vicolo and street always seem to channel the sounds to my apartment ahead of the festivities so that I arrive “on scene” just as they are turning onto Via Vacchereccia. I finished my b...

Two months in Florence. Saturday, May 3. Of shampoo. It damn well better bring back the youthful color of my hair for that price. We won’t even discuss the gel or for that matter the shave cream that came in a tube so small and dearly expensive it would have been cheaper if I had bought truffle paste. Wandered all over the city last night and tonight. Friday, May 2. SOUNDS THROUGH ANCIENT STONE. Eleanora arrived, as I stood mesmerized by the discovery that Google Earth had misled me. There are actual...

Two months in Florence. Friday, June 13. What would be appropriate for the unlucky, spooky triskaidekaphobiaist on this Friday of bad luck? How about the recounting of what some might consider a scary story? Contrary to my nature I got up much earlier than I had to, because I wanted to spend some quality time on my balcony before leaving. It was a beautiful morning. A few clouds were scattered across the sky and the air was warm. Anyway, back to my point. Or did I actually have a point? Lorenza had excla...

Two months in Florence. Saturday, March 15. Although I prefer a zen-like lifestyle and would be more comfortable living in a time centuries past, I have been dragged kicking and screaming into the current century of blogging. It will make my life easier, I am told. When I get the number I will post it. Well, I have muddled through getting this started and I'll be checking to see if this blog system will be acceptable to everyone. Ciao. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Joe Bellanca Ibiza Villas.
