March 2012 – Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too
https://paperplasticstring.wordpress.com/2012/03
Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too. Weeks 14 and 15. March 31, 2012. April 17, 2012. We have had some unseasonably warm weather, and this, together with the clocks going forward, seems to have improved my motivation. ‘Untitled’ and ‘Great Art? 8217; are now finished. In the case of ‘Great Art? Now all I have left are the ashes. 8216;Untitled’ also had a brief trip outside, but will not be staying there though these pieces all seem to look at their best outside. March 24, 2012. With the Ma...

Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too. March 26, 2013. March 26, 2013. My completed embroideries, designed using iColorama. I added very simple stitching – back, stem, straight and French knots. These will be on exhibition at. In Totton, near Southampton, starting with an artists’ reception at 6.30 on Tuesday 2nd April, and running for most of the month. Please come along and see the work of my colleagues in ‘neuf’ as well as me. The rest is silence…. March 20, 2013. March 23, 2013. And no s...

August 2013 – Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too
https://paperplasticstring.wordpress.com/2013/08
Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too. Just dropping in…. August 20, 2013. To report on some insomniac iColorama experiments. They started from one of the App Whisperer’s Tips of the Day. About making backgrounds for use with apps – except that I couldn’t just follow the instructions, could I? These are a few of the results, which I made earlier. Tonight, when I couldn’t sleep, I began to think about other options. I like the effect of blending an apped version of an image with the original,...

April 2012 – Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too
https://paperplasticstring.wordpress.com/2012/04
Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too. Weeks 19-20: A Big Decision. April 29, 2012. So I’m not going to make any more, not even finish ‘Saga’. However, I have given myself some time off, apart from the photos, POT and blogs. I’m using the time to do some completely non-college related and unoriginal embroidery, [I’ve found it very enjoyable and relaxing] although while I’ve been doing it I’ve been thinking about where I’m going. Weeks 16-18: the Saga continues…. April 17, 2012. April 17, 2012.

June 2013 – Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too
https://paperplasticstring.wordpress.com/2013/06
Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too. I may get a bit repetitive …. June 19, 2013. Since completing my degree, I’ve been attending an intermittent workshop at college called ‘Contemporary Textiles’. Last week was the last session for this term, and we were given homework for the summer. A piece of paper with the word ‘Repetition’ on it. I tried Google but didn’t find the definitions terribly helpful – but then, I know what the word means, I just have no ideas about what to do. And then I ap...

September 2012 – Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too
https://paperplasticstring.wordpress.com/2012/09
Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too. Where have the last few months gone? September 23, 2012. September 23, 2012. I’ve had enough of tubes for now. I don’t think I’ve abandoned them for ever, and I do have some ideas for new approaches – but not yet. So what to do instead? I have been trying out some new techniques – well, new for me. Like coiled baskets. I tried several different approaches but I still like this one, the first I made, the best. Tapestry wool and cotton cord.

January 2014 – Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too
https://paperplasticstring.wordpress.com/2014/01
Paper, Plastic, String – and Fabric and Thread too. This poor neglected little blog. January 26, 2014. January 26, 2014. I could get up and try the desk top, but I’m feeling lazy, so let’s try it this way – type the post in a text editor (Pages) and then copy and paste. Into what? Cross that bridge when I come to it…. In January’s session we indulged in some ‘machine networking’ – work a line of automated machine stitch on a pice of felt and pass it on. Sixteen times. My follow-up to our last session inv...
