Pesticides Bug Me: Organic & Local
http://www.pesticidesbugme.org/2011/02/organic-local.html
A personal and, quite frankly, biased exploration of pesticide use in my neighborhood and on my planet. Wednesday, February 2, 2011. Dr Joseph Mercola, physician and author, writes in the Huffington Post for today:. Making sure your vegetables are pesticide-free is especially important. Did you know the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers 60 percent of herbicides, 90 percent of fungicides and 30 percent of insecticides to be carcinogenic? Pesticides Bug Me: Bok Choy #1
http://www.pesticidesbugme.org/2012/05/bok-choy-1.html
A personal and, quite frankly, biased exploration of pesticide use in my neighborhood and on my planet. Sunday, May 20, 2012. I just invented the most awesome recipe from a freshly picked bok choy given to me by my gardening friend, Ed. Oh-and he said to "toss" the flowers also since they are a delicacy. In a salad? I asked. No, to cook them. Of course, I don't have a wok or any other fancy cooking vessels. I just have a basic, stainless steel pan. I'm not brave enough to toss. Yellow bok choy flowers.

Pesticides Bug Me: Bees (and Guilt)
http://www.pesticidesbugme.org/2010/08/bees-and-guilt.html
A personal and, quite frankly, biased exploration of pesticide use in my neighborhood and on my planet. Sunday, August 1, 2010. Today I planted my first plant in my new plot at the local community garden. My plot is right at the front of the garden near a busy school parking lot, so I have lots of visibility from the public. And I plan to use this visibility to get kinda political in my garden. I might even paint a hokey "Save the Bees! The CONCEPT: A Bee Sanctuary. November 3, 2010 at 8:00 AM. There was...

Pesticides Bug Me: Low-Maintenance Dwarf Fruit Trees II (revised)
http://www.pesticidesbugme.org/2011/02/low-maintenance-dwarf-fruit-trees-ii.html
A personal and, quite frankly, biased exploration of pesticide use in my neighborhood and on my planet. Saturday, February 19, 2011. Low-Maintenance Dwarf Fruit Trees II (revised). I promised some thorough catalog searching at the end of the previous post, but I hadn't gone very far before I came to the conclusion that any and all varieties of apples, cherries, peaches and pears all look like a real pain in the butt-ew-ski no matter how you slice them (pardon the pun.). Geraldi Hybrid is a dwarf variety ...

Pesticides Bug Me: Renegade Lunch Lady
http://www.pesticidesbugme.org/2010/12/renegade-lunch-lady.html
A personal and, quite frankly, biased exploration of pesticide use in my neighborhood and on my planet. Tuesday, December 28, 2010. OK - this video is inspiring for two reasons:. 1 It's a story about a school lunch program in California (of course) which is almost entirely organic. 2 It was created by teenagers and uploaded to Eco Company TV. A website "hosted by a dynamic group of teens who combine their natural curiosity with their enthusiasm to preserve the planet they will inherit.". I love this stuff.

A personal and, quite frankly, biased exploration of pesticide use in my neighborhood and on my planet. Saturday, September 15, 2012. A gardening friend told me about a project for which her niece has won an award. It's the Pollinator Pathway. Project in Seattle and here is some information from the website:. What is the Pollinator Pathway? The project is also getting a lot of attention from the press. Here is an entry on National Public Radio's food blog. The main idea is to plant small islands of nativ...

A personal and, quite frankly, biased exploration of pesticide use in my neighborhood and on my planet. Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Nice article from the Washington Post:.
