http://blog.professorastronomy.com/2009/02/texas-officially-appreciates-astronomy.html
Tuesday, February 24, 2009. Texas officially appreciates astronomy. As I type this, the Texas House of Representatives and Senate are honoring the University of Texas and Texas A&M. For our efforts in astronomical research past, present, and future. Here is the text of the concurrent resolution. In spite of the issues that the state of Texas seems to have with science standards. And for the construction of new instruments. Perhaps more important is the joint recognition of both the University of Texas.
