A Southerner under the Northern Lights: More organizing going on

http://asouthernerunderthenorthernlights.blogspot.com/2014/10/more-organizing-going-on.html

A Southerner under the Northern Lights. A Southerner transplanted to the Far North stitching under the Northern Lights. Sunday, October 12, 2014. More organizing going on. The floss away bags fit perfectly inside the box and the box was big enough to hold my entire collection of Cresent Colors silks Belle Soie and the Cotton colors in a second one. The lid closes magnetically and I will label the end of the box so I know which box hold which threads. I have almost finished sorting the cross stitch fabric...

A Southerner under the Northern Lights. A Southerner transplanted to the Far North stitching under the Northern Lights. Tuesday, November 12, 2013. Denali in the Fall. Every year we go to Denali in the Fall. The colors always seem brighter there for the short Fall season that we have. The colors were beautiful this year and we enjoyed being there as always. Denali, the mountain was out for our entire stay. Always so impressive as it towers over the other mountains. This is the Murie cabin. Each summe...

A Southerner under the Northern Lights: More Progress

http://asouthernerunderthenorthernlights.blogspot.com/2013/11/more-progress.html

A Southerner under the Northern Lights. A Southerner transplanted to the Far North stitching under the Northern Lights. Saturday, November 9, 2013. I did however finish this into a needle roll for her. She has a beautiful bread bowl heirloom that she wants to add smalls to so I wanted to help her with filling it. This was the first addition from me. I have several more I want to do but that would involve me actually getting the stitching done of course. Sorry for the long delay between posts. These a...

Random thoughts from a Christian guy: February 2010

http://rtfcg.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html

Random thoughts from a Christian guy. Saturday, February 27, 2010. Can’t get no satisfaction. But do these things really satisfy you? Another angle may be to ponder your own funeral. What do you want people to say? Is there any hope beyond the grave? The only two certainties in life are death and taxes :). If there is hope beyond the grave, then live your life backwards with this long term view in mind. 427 Man does not know in what rank to place himself. He has plainly gone astray and fallen from hi...

Random thoughts from a Christian guy: March 2011

http://rtfcg.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Random thoughts from a Christian guy. Wednesday, March 30, 2011. Ever feel that life is chaotic. One big void; Out of control; not sure what is coming next; what surprises tomorrow will bring. Chaos is defined as: a state of utter confusion or disorder; a total lack of organization or order; any confused, disorderly mass. The meaning "utter confusion" (c.1600) is extended from theological use of chaos. For "the void at the beginning of creation" in Vulgate version of Genesis. {. As Wesley says,. Come nea...

Random thoughts from a Christian guy. Tuesday, March 6, 2012. Some thoughts from today's sermon in church:. Pain can push us closer to God. Desperation leads to transformation. Random thoughts from a Christian guy: May 2010

http://rtfcg.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Random thoughts from a Christian guy. Saturday, May 22, 2010. At the Thursday night online Bible study I attend, we got talking about strength from fear, a line from the Crystal Lewis song “Beauty from Ashes”. Here is a portion of the song. He give beauty for ashes. A question was asked about strength for fear and how to understand that phrase. I like Matthew Henry’s comment on these verses:. Proverbs 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous runs into it and is safe. Links to this post.

Random thoughts from a Christian guy

http://rtfcg.blogspot.com/2012/03/from-20-obvious-truths-that-will-shock.html

Random thoughts from a Christian guy. Tuesday, March 20, 2012. From: 20 Obvious Truths That Will Shock Liberals by John Hawkins. Jesus Christ was not a conservative, a liberal, or a politician. He was also not a capitalist or a socialist. Still, you can say this: Jesus drew sharp lines about what's right and wrong, he wasn't tolerant of what the Bible categorizes as sinful behavior, and there's absolutely no question that he would adamantly oppose abortion and gay marriage. A Southerner In the City. Tidbits and Tales from one Belle to another. Sunday, July 29, 2012. The summer has finally begun in the harbor and I have been enjoying the Maine lifestyle. We finished our run of "Lipstick and Gamblers"in which I was performing six nights a week as Dolly Parton. We opened this past week with the Beach Boys! Here are some pictures of our Maine adventures! So much is happening in Maine! I promise to be a better blogger! We explored Pemaquid Lighthouse. Wednesday, July 4, 2012.

A Southerner in the North | A new journey in foreign lands

A Southerner in the North. A new journey in foreign lands. It’s the Most Woeful Time of the Year. If a reindeer lost its tail, where could he get a new one? At a retail store. What name does Santa Claus use when he takes a rest from delivering presents? What is the cow’s holiday greeting? It’s a fun time, it’s an expensive time, it’s a time to put our differences aside and get pissed on mulled wine. If anyone wants to look up to a feminist comic icon then surely she is the best possible choice? Nice and ...

A Southerner's Reflections

A southerner's reflections on contemporary issues and constitutional principles with just the right mix of down-to-earth common sense, southern culture and humor. OK, a little sarcasm too. Friday, March 1, 2013. Reflections of a Southerner. People, not positions, have knowledge. Politicians love commissions because it takes the need to make difficult decisions out of their hands. We already have a "debt commission", its Congress. Recently, a local group of civic and educational leaders and elected offici...

A Southern Fare

Two Sisters, Two Kitchens, Two Gardens, Two Styles. Sunday, August 5, 2012. The cabinets originally were the typical pecan stained oak of the ‘90s. I decided to put an antique finish on them and attached some bead board on the end to finish off the look. Luckily, I had some primer, white paint and dark stain lying around as well as some bead board that someone was getting rid of so this project cost a whopping $0! So here is how it all went down:. Left is pre-stain and right is after stain is applied.
