Taiwan Odyssey: September 2008
http://taiwanodyssey.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 September 2008. This would have to be one of the most bizarre foods that I've come across, and it best described by the guy in this video. When I first arrived, driving through the street markets, the stench was overpowering. Originally, I thought it was rotting cooking oil. Anyway, I gave it a bash and decided. it tastes as bad as it smells. A bit like an obscure, putrid blue cheese - an acquired taste. Even the bald guy wouldn't eat it. Check it out:. Taiwan Odyssey: Green Island
http://taiwanodyssey.blogspot.com/2008/10/green-island.html
Wednesday, 1 October 2008. Here's my belated photo-essay from Green Island. It ranks among my top place to see in Taiwan. I'm going to focus here on the natural beauty of the place,. And too much on our endeavours,. Or the events that led to Roisin's injuries. These are some of my favourite signs. The beaches are not all that great for swimming. But once you get past the rocks the fish are awesome. Does anyone else see anything wrong with this? And here some more pics of those crazy guys out "snorkelling".

Taiwan Odyssey: Kaohsiung Architecture
http://taiwanodyssey.blogspot.com/2008/10/kaohsiung-architecture.html
Wednesday, 22 October 2008. I can't pretend I know too much about architecture but I can tell you what I like. I have to admit there isn't too much architectural inspiration in Taiwanese cities. When the Dutch arrived in the 16th century they dubbed the place "Ilha Formosa" or "Beautiful Island". Well we have a pretty good demonstration of what not to do with a beautiful island. View from the top of Dream Mall looking toward the harbour. Koahsiung's 85 holds similar awe. The seventies styles seem common.

Taiwan Odyssey: English in Taiwan
http://taiwanodyssey.blogspot.com/2008/10/english-in-taiwan.html
Wednesday, 22 October 2008. When you arrive at Kaohsiung airport, you’re greeted with a sign on the exit doors saying:. PLEASE AVOID THE COLLISION. This should have stood as a warning as I came to Taiwan in the hope of helping people perfect their English. Taiwanese rely on translation and take a very lexical approach to language. However, English is not Chinese. Words are ideas and many of the ideas are often fundamentally different. For example:. 8220; your daughter should consider the bright future.

Oz Circumnavigation: May 2008
http://ozcircumnavigation.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 24, 2008. Out of NSW and into Queensland. This part of the journey led us out of Northern NSW, through Kempsey,Coffs Harbour on the coast and then Grafton, Casino, Lismore and Murwillumbah inland. The contrast was alarming has it showed the contrast between the luxury of coastal living on the South Pacific Ocean to the trials and tribulations of hard country living in a drought. Whilst it was impressive on the coast from the big building/money perspective - it just wasn't us. However the fo...
