A loooong tirade on shopping | Awake In India
https://awakeinindia.wordpress.com/2009/12/01/a-loooong-tirade-on-shopping
Who, What, Where? What happens in India stays in the blog. Laquo; Snow White syndrome. What To Do…. A loooong tirade on shopping. December 1, 2009 by evolotus. Something that I’ve always quite enjoyed as a consumerist monster from the West is shopping. When I first got to Bombay, I was in heaven. Super-cheap merchandise everywhere! Well, the answer is that shopping’s hard work here. Not feeling like buying or giving away money? You can try two things I find work ok. If you pick something up, they will st...

Who, What, Where? What happens in India stays in the blog. Laquo; Semi-nude adventures in the night of Bombay. Bollywood, Goats, and Pub crawling. November 30, 2009 by evolotus. Ah what a lovely weekend it was! Good change after the melancholic feel of the past week due to the first anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist acts. Here’s a clip from the film:. European food. Oooh it was heaven! Praise the lord, it was better than, ahem, a lot of things! After this heavenly treat I walked back home and rea...

Who, What, Where? What happens in India stays in the blog. Laquo; A loooong tirade on shopping. What To Do…. December 1, 2009 by evolotus. This is my favourite Indian saying. it goes with almost anything. It is also my mood of the day, or week actually. Being so free, anonymous and in charge of what I do with no responsibilities I have not asked for has been an eye opener. I think I now know much better what I want in life, what type of life it should be and also that it’s not all about me! But it’s also...

Who, What, Where? What happens in India stays in the blog. Laquo; Bollywood, Goats, and Pub crawling. A loooong tirade on shopping. December 1, 2009 by evolotus. I wanted to write a post on the obsession on having light skin the Indians have. First of, a disclaimer. I know not absolutely all Indians want to be whiter and many are happy with their natural skin tone. However, I will now make the generalization that a very large majority want to be whiter and there is plenty of evidence of this. Second, the...

The Small and the Tall on tour: December 2009
http://the-small-and-the-tall.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
The Small and the Tall on tour. 13 weeks between San Jose and Rio de Janeiro. Wednesday, December 23, 2009. Rio de Janeiro (the city of Wonders). The final of our 13 weeks journey was 4 days in Rio. Aka the city of wonders, or for others the City of God. The first days were quite rainy, but still we managed to get a good view from the famous Christ statue. 15min later we could not see the statue from the foot of it because of the clouds that were blown in. On our last day we went to one of the favela.

The Small and the Tall on tour. 13 weeks between San Jose and Rio de Janeiro. Thursday, December 17, 2009. After Brasilia we flew to Rio, that first surprised us with massive heat (30 °C and 90% humidity at night) and then with rain. We had a nice time going out with people from the hostel and subsequently seeing the dawn over Copacabana beach, but when we woke up it was raining and it didn't really stop any more, so we made shapes (Lucy this is to you). And we were eating some nice fish. It was the ...

The Small and the Tall on tour. 13 weeks between San Jose and Rio de Janeiro. Monday, December 7, 2009. After the gigantism of Sao Paolo, we headed south by bus to Curitiba (aka for the Googlers ` Pedro `s city` btw Pedro says `Hi`). In this peaceful city of 2M inhabitants, we discovered and enjoyed:. Some live music in pubs and restaurants (we still didn t dare to dance). Feijoada. This is a typical brazilian dish very well described by one of Pedro´s friends as the "Brazilian goulash". YOu both are loo...

The Small and the Tall on tour. 13 weeks between San Jose and Rio de Janeiro. Friday, December 11, 2009. Stories from the Igassu Falls. Speechless. This is the feeling we had when discovering the Igassu Falls! They are amazing, noisy and well very wet for the tourists traveling on a boat:). The hostel should send them to our hostel in Rio.). We as well had the chance to spot quite some wildlife: a deer, an small anteater (! The biggest power plant in the world! April 4, 2011 at 3:48 AM. The Small and the Tall on tour. 13 weeks between San Jose and Rio de Janeiro. Friday, October 30, 2009. S Miraflores is a newer and safer district of this 9 Millions inhabitants city. We have so far visited some churches and museums in the Central Lima and tried one of the Peruvians specialities: Ceviche (not so far from the Japanese sushis as it consists of marinated raw fish). We as well did an excursion to Pachacamac. What a cool name! Monday, October 26, 2009. As we want to truly discover the heart o...

The Small and the Tall on tour: Brasilia
http://the-small-and-the-tall.blogspot.com/2009/12/brasilia.html
The Small and the Tall on tour. 13 weeks between San Jose and Rio de Janeiro. Sunday, December 13, 2009. After the touristy Igassu falls, it was time to go to a far less visited destination: the capital of Brazil. But we more or less knew what to expect and we found it fascinating: Traveling around the city made us feel like an old science fiction movie. Especially that the city has many very cool buildings designed by Niemeyer. And his peer architects. Very suprising fact is that waiters are tend to `ti...

The Small and the Tall on tour: Sao Paulo
http://the-small-and-the-tall.blogspot.com/2009/12/sao-paulo.html
The Small and the Tall on tour. 13 weeks between San Jose and Rio de Janeiro. Monday, December 7, 2009. Our start in Brazil was not easy: it was really hard to book a hotel in Sao Paulo, first me and then Amélie had a nice stomach bug, the weather was not too warm and it was raining cats and dogs in the afternoons. For the rest of Sao Paulo we only saw the Sé cathedral and the excellent MASP. This also marked our first encounter with Oscar Niemeyer. September 17, 2012 at 1:46 AM. August 1, 2014 at 5:42 AM.
