The Washington County Court is located at the Washington County Municipal Center in Fort Edward, NY. The other part is Family Court, and is sometimes referred to as such. This seat is now vacant. It was held by Judge Stanley L. Pritzker, who resigned in January following his election last November to the New York State Supreme Court, 4th Judicial District. Both judges are Surrogates, which is the judicial management of estates. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Join Tim On Facebook! Old Fort House Museum Fort ...

Tim Bulger For Washington County Judge: Gerald Bulger
http://bulgerforjudge.blogspot.com/p/gerald-bulger.html
A major influence on Tim was his recently deceased father, Gerald Bulger. On December 30, 1944, the USS Orestes suffered a direct hit by a Japanese kamikaze plane. Forty five crewmen were killed and over one hundred wounded. As a result of his injuries, Gerald's right leg was amputated. Despite his disability, Gerald went on to raise a family and become an active member in his community. His grandson, Devin, delivered a poignant and moving eulogy at Gerald's funeral mass. 8220;Did I ever tell you the one?

Sunday, December 11, 2016. When they go low, we go high.". Surprisingly, Mrs. Obama's noble manifesto turns out to be good advice for exploring the Battenkill State Forest. As I mentioned in an earlier post,. Across a small stream-bed you'll see Battenkill Valley Outdoors. They are a great resource for adventures in this part of Washington County and nearby Vermont. They outfit river trips and provide shuttles, operate a retail store and even offer lodging. Last time I checked Don and Lisa Otey w...Today...

Friday, March 25, 2016. Ekwanok on the equinox. Thoughtful of them. To place a mountain such that the sun rises perfectly over the summit on the first day of spring. To call it Mt. Equinox. So once I come over to the sunny side I count the views from our farm as one of the many things I'm grateful for. Mt Equinox from Irish Lane. Tourists at Lookout Rock - from Mt. Equinox website. Day she brought Holly into the world. Did I mention my long-suffering wife? Serendipity. How else can you describe it? The N...

Sunday, July 24, 2016. Have you heard people say they'll move mountains to accomplish their goals? I guess such intense drive is admirable, but I draw the line at small hills. Maybe low knolls would be even more accurate. The difference is that this talk of moving mountains is metaphoric bluster and bravado, while I'm actually leveling a real hill in pursuit of the goal of comfortable cows. Old geological books and map. A blurry (sorry) map of surficial geology. My sand dune: this hill has got to go!

Saturday, June 11, 2016. But there's a bright side? To this farming frenzy. Things break. Which means you have to get parts. Which entails a trip to Washington County where the equipment dealerships are located. I was heading down Rt. 40 on just such a trip, thinking it was silly to waste all this time and gas on a flat tire (or was it a dead battery? A blown hydraulic hose? About 13,000 years ago the North Meetinghouse would have been water front property. A cold, muddy post-glacial lake with chunks...

Sunday, May 8, 2016. Transits of Mercury and Venus don't happen as often. The next one for Mercury is in 2019. Venus had a pair of transits in 2004 and 2012 but the next one won't happen until 2117. I hope to be able to retire by then and have time to watch it. Maybe someday soon colonists on Mars will be able to see an Earth transit. Probably the best option is to view the transit online at NASA's website. That should make both your ophthalmologist and the local fire department happy. You're going to li...
