Slow Girl Running: September 2009
http://slowgirlrunning.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
It may take a while, but I will make it. Wednesday, September 30, 2009. The highs and lows. The Denver Half Marathon is 18 days away, and I've got a big problem. The group run on Saturday was the infamous " Parker. Run" I've been hearing tales of its mercilessness since I joined the group several weeks ago. My 7 mile run a few weeks ago was hilly but, as everyone reminded each other as we collected back in the parking lot to retrieve our keys, "it wasn't quite as bad as Parker. Big deal, right? Whatever ...

Slow Girl Running: Awesome ice helmet
http://slowgirlrunning.blogspot.com/2009/10/awesome-ice-helmet.html
It may take a while, but I will make it. Tuesday, October 13, 2009. Saturday's run was exactly as I expected: cold and wet. But it was also something else that I didn't expect: pretty freaking awesome. It was snowing and 16 degrees out when I got out of the car, and I felt drastically unprepared with my non-waterproof gear. But, I was out there, running in the elements like one of those really hard-core people you see on the pages of Runner's World. Like them, I guess. I was still slow. Good job running ...

Slow Girl Running: July 2008
http://slowgirlrunning.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
It may take a while, but I will make it. Wednesday, July 16, 2008. Stronger than a Jelly Bean. Well, after a whopping 4 weeks, I show no weight loss, but also no weight gain. This is actually a small victory, considering that I was. On vacation for 2.5 weeks. Of course it's disappointing to waste 4 weeks not losing weight. but whatevs. I have plenty of other things to be stressed out over today. I better do something. Like my personal space, ok? Next to mine. I would have had to leave! I've decided that ...

Running Through the Middle Ages: February 2006

Running Through the Middle Ages. Thoughts on the mental and physical aspects of running for fitness, from a serious slow runner. Saturday, February 25, 2006. Epiphany in the 7th mile. Hoo, boy. Did I mention that I turned 54 last weekend? As it turned out, I was almost out anyway. The weather today was good for running 10: cloudy, high 50's. We chose to run on the measured course at Moss-Wright Park in Goodlettsville. Did I mention my new shoes? Links to this post. Saturday, February 18, 2006. Ran 8 on F...

Running Through the Middle Ages: Where's he been? No tellin'

Running Through the Middle Ages. Thoughts on the mental and physical aspects of running for fitness, from a serious slow runner. Wednesday, August 25, 2010. Your unfaithful correspondent has been running a little, writing for money some, and generally neglecting this web log. I won't try to catch up or recap, at least not now. For the moment, here's a snippet from Gretchen Reynolds, writing in Tara Parker-Pope's Well blog at New York Times online. Phys Ed: Does Music Make You Exercise Harder?

Running Through the Middle Ages: March 2007
http://runningmiddleages.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html
Running Through the Middle Ages. Thoughts on the mental and physical aspects of running for fitness, from a serious slow runner. Saturday, March 17, 2007. The Tom King went down this morning, and I ended up cutting about 9 minutes off last year's time! As of this writing, the official times haven't posted, but my time was 2:10 and a few ticks. This was not accomplished without some pain. Probably, I trained fewer miles and less carefully for this year's run - my fifth time - than for any other so far.

Running Through the Middle Ages. Thoughts on the mental and physical aspects of running for fitness, from a serious slow runner. Saturday, March 18, 2006. Race day, remembered. OK, so the half marathon is done. Not too bad, but it could have gone better. Back up a couple of weeks:. At the halfway point turnaround, we clocked under 61.5 minutes – a very good pace, all things considered. Things began to slide a bit after that. In the confusion of our disorganized departure, TQOMH had forg...Both of us fini...

Running Through the Middle Ages: Eyes front, chin up, elbows in, headphones on

Running Through the Middle Ages. Thoughts on the mental and physical aspects of running for fitness, from a serious slow runner. Sunday, January 10, 2010. Eyes front, chin up, elbows in, headphones on. I missed a couple of days on the treadmill (don't plan to obsess over this, but I also don't intend to skip a lot of days), and it showed on the scale. All this at the time I should be adding miles in the train-up to the mid-March half marathon. And part of Tu Recuerdo Y Yo. Treadmill - with tunes! Is Phys...
