Monthly Archives: February 2011. February 9, 2011 · 11:09 am. Tomorrow is Bryan’s birthday and he has been hinting that he’d like a spa robe so last night I pulled out this pattern and whipped one up (really, this is a 2-3 hour project). Of course I’ve been meaning to get to it for weeks now but last-minute is how it always ends up. The fabric is a heavy cotton pique from my stash (another bulky piece gone! I know it looks ridiculous on my dressform but you get the idea. Year of the Jacket. It’s be...

Monthly Archives: June 2011. June 21, 2011 · 7:22 am. HP Deneuve Tuxedo Shirt – Take Three (Part I). Well, let’s first get the obvious out of the way: yes, I’ve been gone for awhile but nothing’s wrong. In fact, everything’s right because I finally, finally, finally got a JOB! Yes, I am once again among the gainfully employed – woohoo! I bought this Irish linen at Maggi’s For Fine Fabrics about 15 or 16 years ago so I thought it was high time I did something with it. Since it has a woven stripe...I used ...

Vogue 1224 Tracy Reese Dress. HP Deneuve Tuxedo Shirt – Take Three (Part I) →. May 3, 2011 · 8:18 pm. I was gifted this beautiful Singer 401A (mid-1950s) about a year ago by someone who is well aware of my obsession with vintage machines. She knew that I would cherish it and that it would be a treasured piece in my collection. It’s been sitting in my friend’s shop since then awaiting restoration so I was extremely excited to finally bring her home today. Isn’t she a beauty? Filed under Sewing Machines.

Once all of my muslin underlining pieces were traced and cut in mirror image (so that the markings would end up next to the body) they were hand-basted to an additional underlining of silk organza. Having two layers of underlining meant I could stitch my boning channels through the layers rather than having to add separate boning channels.

Fit to be Stitched. Fitting and stitching woes of a returning sewist with a new weaving obsession on the side. Sunday, April 24, 2011. Not that I ever left but I certainly feel like it! No postings since February, but I have been up and around :) I did meet Karen Roth at SewExpo, but alas, the stars did not line up to meet anyone else. But my big new is that DD and D soon to be SIL have set a date! March 26, 2012! They will be looking at 3 venues and we go from there. Food: Trays from Costco, dressed up ...

Fit to be Stitched. Fitting and stitching woes of a returning sewist with a new weaving obsession on the side. Saturday, February 25, 2012. I'm about as far as I can go without a body to put the dress on. I stopped short of the zipper and basting the bodice onto the skirt. I'd decided I'd really like to have her IN the dress to make sure I run the zipper as far "south" as it needs to go. As for the basting of the bodice to the skirt? I am happy with how it is all coming together. I am 57, a retired Proje...

Monday, January 7, 2013. But really, no excuses. Just life. But here are some great photos from the last year to tide everyone over until the next time I post - hopefully next week.(and when I get a new camera battery or camera.). Disclaimer: The great looking photos come from 2 different sources - 2 sets of great friends who both happen to be great photographers - because honestly, my picture taking skills. Are just plain bad. I'll post the link to their pages next time! I met Ree Drummond! A Dress A Day.

Wednesday, January 27, 2010. Let them eat cake! Last Sunday, my 14 year old daughter "volunteered" her little sister, age 12, to make a cake for their church youth group game night. My 12 year old loves baking and cooking. So she made her version of a candyland game board. She did everything - from baking the cakes, frosting them, decorating them, including the piping, to designing the whole thing. I think she did an awesome job! Posted by Lady Jenn. Friday, January 22, 2010. It's time to deep clean.
Blips, Drips and Strips: S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y Night!
http://blipsdripsstrips.blogspot.com/2014/02/s-t-u-r-d-y-night.html
Blips, Drips and Strips. Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Had a bit of free time this weekend so mom and I scooted quickly down to Joanne's in Bellingham. I have decided that "Basket Case" (the Boo Davis skull quilt) will be done with a PLAID. Background. I know. Genius. I also got some grey herringbone that will be the backing and the binding, also slightly flannel-ish. This quilt is going to be so snuggly. It's a quilt adorned with cute 70s boys with fashion mullets! Don't leave until you watch this video!

Blips, Drips and Strips. Thursday, April 10, 2014. I've been so busy coordinating content for the VMQG blog. I've been once again neglecting my personal blog. There might. Also be some guilt (and therefore blog posting procrastination) around not making a lot of progress on my Library Project. I seriously think I might have a case of crafter's ADD, because . oooh, shiny new thing/book/cool idea on instagram/blog post/guild challenge. The VMQG has started doing book reviews. Makes me nervous. The tea ...

Blips, Drips and Strips. Thursday, December 12, 2013. Holy crap, everyone. Could it be another blog post? Sew Stash, Wazzup? I'm Still Working on it. Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Happy Birthday to KK the Sew Girl. My little KK turned 5 Saturday. She loves her new machine. I made her machine a little cover. Fit to be Stitched. Fitting and stitching woes of a returning sewist with a new weaving obsession on the side. Saturday, August 13, 2011. I think I will crown myself "worst blogger on Earth" and move on! Life get's complicated, doesn't it? There isn't one among us who is still on the path they thought they would be walking 5 years ago. I know mine is dramatically altered. That does not have to mean bad, though. It just means different. 3) Weave the towels OFF the loom! 4) Stitch up the muslin for DD's we...
