Bekah, now Baihe

Bekah, now Baihe. Northwest girl teaching English in the tropics. Thursday, July 12, 2012. I could just see it through the opening between the parking garage pillars of the HSR: streaks of orange and magenta transforming the Kaohsiung sky into a bowl of rainbow sherbet. Though I knew that time was of the essence, and that we needed to get downstairs and get my bags taken care of, I couldn't help but pause: this would be my last Kaohsiung sunset. As I am, now, officially in America for good, I am no longe...

Bekah, now Baihe: March 2012

http://www.bekahnowbaihe.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Bekah, now Baihe. Northwest girl teaching English in the tropics. Saturday, March 31, 2012. There are some things I've just had to accept about my experience here in Taiwan. For instance, that I will never be able to remember the names of every one of my students. And that those students will never be able to properly pronounce the letter "z.". Whom I'd failed to notice were, in fact, twins. I guess I just thought they were the same person or something? To "z"- so why do they always resort to this? I hon...

Bekah, now Baihe: February 2012

http://www.bekahnowbaihe.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html

Bekah, now Baihe. Northwest girl teaching English in the tropics. Tuesday, February 28, 2012. Today was a national holiday, which means no school, which means, in essence, that I spent the majority of the day celebrating from the couch. (With, however, a lengthy and intensive hiatus at the gym which may leave me incapacitated for much of tomorrow and Thursday.). So why the holiday, you ask? Well, it's a memorial to the 228 Incident. 和平紀念日), with fitting reverence for those killed. Posted by Bekah / 百合.

Bekah, now Baihe. Northwest girl teaching English in the tropics. Monday, April 30, 2012. First of all, only when living in Taiwan would I have to double check my old blogs to makes sure I wouldn't have an overlapping name about karaoke. Second of all, karaoke! Today Fiona, Ingrid, Alison, Alison's niece and I went to KTV- for a good 4 hours or so. It was fantastic! Of "We Will Rock You," for instance (why change Queen? And a Taiwanese version of "Lady Marmalade" ( of Moulin Rouge. The most interesting p...

Bekah, now Baihe: An Experiment in Single Travel

http://www.bekahnowbaihe.blogspot.com/2012/07/experiment-in-single-travel.html

Bekah, now Baihe. Northwest girl teaching English in the tropics. Monday, July 2, 2012. An Experiment in Single Travel. Bus bay 6 was empty. You've got to be kidding me. My plane had landed an hour earlier, at 5:35am, and I had scheduled a pick up- had they left without me? Sleep deprived from my 14 hours of travel, I couldn't bring myself to ask someone when I didn't even know the name of the shuttle- why hadn't I written that down? The best way I can describe it is that I felt as I imagine autistic peo...

Random Thoughts

Because boring just isn't fun! Saturday, September 22, 2012. New Year, New Kids, and A New Perspective! So after some deliberation, I decided to stay at my school this year, and have been back at work for over a month now. I'm teaching 7th grade math and math lab again, so nothing's really new there, just new kids! These kids I teach this year are the sweetest, cutest, most thoughtful kids I've ever. After I was in my accident, I had kids telling me, "Thank goodness you're back! Well, I've felt like I'm ...

Nina with her friend Sam (my friend Danielle's son) We went to the farmers market in Johnstown. I just went for fun and ended up getting some green beans, blueberries and corn. I know, an odd combo. We had a blast though. Nina slept in her tent this night and she did very well. She is ready for a big girl bed but I'm not :(. Here's the infamous wig.not too bad.eh? Growing up so fast!
