Cats with three legs following a loss of a leg are affectionately known as tripods. Cats can lose a leg for many reasons, but the most common reasons are injury or illness. VAS tripods have had their leg amputated in an attempt to stop the cancer spreading to other areas of their body. Guide for Amputee Caretakers. We couldn’t give Bungle this second chance as she was routinely vaccinated in the scruff. Please don’t let the same thing happen to your beloved cat. Designed by Ben Meadowcroft.

This is a very complex subject to understand, and the veterinary world is still unsure of what causes VAS and why. Because of this, some of the information available can seem to be conflicting. Here are some of the links we have personally found helpful when trying to understand and deal with the loss of our beloved Bungle. And finally, if you have a cat who currently a VAS, or have previously lost a cat to VAS in the past, you may find the following support group very helpful and informative.

Bungle and her brother, George, were born in May 1998 and joined our family in August 1998. Like all kittens they were very lively and mischievous, but we found a very simple method of grabbing their attention. Turn on the taps in the bathroom sink! Peace reigned for a short while. They also had a fascination for our shoes, and any shoe left lying around was soon incorporated into a game, and balls of paper or other toys would have to be removed before the shoe could be worn again. The tiny lumps rapidly...

The feline leukemia virus was until recently the most common fatal disease for cats. The virus manifests itself in both cancerous and non-cancerous ways:. Cancer of the white blood cells. (This was the first disease associated with the virus, hence the name Feline Leukemia). Cancer which begins in lymphoid tissue, such as lymph nodes, but includes intestines, kidneys, spinal cord, bone marrow etc. However, it is a little-publicised fact that the vaccine itself can cause cancer. But no-one has a definitiv...

This website has been created to help inform cat owners about the little-known risks of the Feline Leukemia vaccine (and also the rabies vaccine in the US). Our intention is not to deter owners from vaccinating cats, but to prompt consideration of whether the vaccination is necessary and, if it is, where to vaccinate. This site is dedicated to the memory of Bungle, who died aged only six and half years old as a result of a vaccine associated sarcoma. Designed by Ben Meadowcroft.

I mean the big Gaudí church in Barcelona. Whose official name I can’t not include: Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família. Words are entirely inadequate to describe it, as are pictures. That isn’t stopping me, but what’s on offer here is a poor substitute for standing inside it with eyes wide. It was a brutal day; raining and blowing hard and not much above 10°C; a weekday too, and thus no line-ups to get in, which I gather is unusual. It’s still under active construction. You can s...The whol...
