During the summer, I monitor the butterfly population at Cuba Marsh. I do this work for the Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network. In Chicago and also runs the in door butterfly exhibit there. The Illinois Butterfly Monitoring Network web site. Is a project of mine. A group of four of us from the network including my brother, Tom, met to plan it, and I did most of the actual creation. Echinacea purpurea can always be counted on for a show of pollinators and birds. American Goldfinches seem to prefer the purple coneflower early before seeds have had a chance to mature.The goldfinches are loud,messy and joyful, singing and flying and searching out food.
