Thursday, July 31, 2014. Think global, act local. Leagues in North America have been churning since March! I dug deeper into my pockets and scrounged up the $19.99 for the NASL viewing rights. I really like what they've done in terms of the technology, albeit not close to what the MLS does. I personally think that the NASL is an underrated league. Recently, the top European clubs are asking FIFA to reduce the amount international fixtures by a third. They'd like to see 21 games plus tournament finals to be played over a two year period. Why so much angst? Well, players often come back exhaust and sometimes injured. Clubs have invested millions on these players, only to see their investments come back broken over patriotism.

Back in the early 1990s, I was really into football and baseball and my grandparents being the loving and giving people they were decided to give me an allowance to buy trading cards. On average, I'd spend about $5 weekly to spend. The excitement was palpable. Would I get that Steve Young or Jim Kelly card? It never really came to be but I kept at it.
