Road Trip

Tina came to visit. We decided to take the back roads to Harriett's house and see some sights along the way. We had a short hike with our neighbor Mary. On the road, our first stop is the EMU-Z-UM. Near Grand View. On both sides of the driveway is a collection of antique road equipment. This grader was built by the "Good Roads Machinery Company" around 1915 and was pulled by mules or horses. Cheryl is driving a 1920's model Galion grader. This machine was pulled by a large tractor.

Mom brought snow to the Idaho desert. After staying home with new-born Chander for four weeks, Dana and Jeremy were ready to travel. They came to our house to make pasta. Chander has Dana's hair. Santa Barbara

We went to Santa Barbara to visit Cheryl's Uncle Roy and Aunt Sheila. Roy, Sheila, Harriett, Rita, and Marcia's friend Bill all have birthdays at about the same time. We had a great celebration. We also enjoyed bike riding to the beach, swimming in the pool, and the tremendous hospitality of Roy and Sheila. Cheryl completely surprised Bill with a big valentine. Rita, Cheryl, and Bill enjoying the view from the top of the old courthouse. The whole gang celebrates birthdays.

Bill and Charlotte 8. Monday, May 14, 2012. Saturday, May 14. We decided to make a quick trip to Berlin. Joe went with us. He was our translator, the only one who could speak German. It was great having him along. We had a lot of fun. Started out the day with a train to Mannheim then to Frankfurt to catch the ICE train. Only a couple hours away and we were in Berlin. We took a hop on-hop off bus tour to see most of the sights. Those bus tours became our best friends by the end of our trip. May 14-15, 2011.
