We have a range of microscopic and mesoscopic imaging modes available in the Centre for Biophotonics. These include both commercial and purpose-built systems and include:. Differential interference contrast microscopy. Wide-field epi-fluorescence microscopy, with time-lapse and fast acquisition (100 fps) options. Confocal laser scanning microscopy. Multi-photon laser scanning microscopy with excitation wavelengths from 620-1600nm from commercial and home-built ultra-short pulsed lasers.

The Conference this year will be held at Glasgow Caledonian University. The university is situated in a modern city campus which can be easily accessed by air, rail and road from anywhere in the country. Caledonian Court is five minutes walk from the university campus and can accommodate a total of 660 people in self-catering flats. Each flat has between five and eight bedrooms; over half of the rooms have en-suite facilities. This will be held at The Glasgow Science Centre.

Monolithic integration of light sources and detectors allow for flexible, miniature, low-cost biosensors. We develop GaAs-based Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs) and PIN photodiodes on a single substrate as a miniature readout module for optical biosensing.
