Anatomy of a Bird. Backyard Birds – May 2016. May 16, 2016. We’ve also got all the usual “trash birds”, as I call them. European Starlings, Common Grackles, and House Sparrows. Birding With Dave
Tuesday, January 6, 2015. Just a quickie today. First off, there were quite a few of these birds that are just so full of themselves, they swim around with their noses in the air, like they own the place. Of course, I didn't see too many other birds challenging them and their attitudes. There were quite a few of these Ring-necked out there. They pretty much hung by themselves and with the Coots and Redheads. This Mallard just seemed content to admire his reflection in the smooth water. Now for the IDs...

A blog documenting my adventures in birding, especially my 2012 Ventura County, CA Big Year attempt! Sunday, May 20, 2012. Close Encounters of the Bird Kind. Hi, I'm a birder and it's been six weeks since my last post. Fear not! I have been seeing birds, I just haven't been writing about it. So, let's play a little catch up before I ramble on about avian matters. Lately, I've been on a pretty good streak of "special" bird encounters. I think everyone has their own idea for what they consider "special...

Birding with Kenn and Kimberly
Thursday, September 15, 2016. Although Kenn and I were away from home and missed it, two more baby turtles hatched! And while our hearts might be a teensy bit sad to have missed it, we couldn't be happier that our dear friend Tiffanie got to share this experience with her daughter.
