Birds, Butterflies, and Blossoms: A Nature Journal. A naturalist's perspective on the wildlife of Fish Creek in Upstate New York. Sunday, January 23, 2011. Minus 3 degrees when I got up this morning! Brrr and it’s supposed to go down to 15 below tonight. Crazy-cold! So as a result I didn’t go wandering far today. But I did snap some quick photos this morning. It was looking like a winter wonderland again what with the frost clinging to the trees; a hoary frost, indeed! Friday, January 21, 2011. But their...

Birds, Butterflies, and Blossoms: A Nature Journal. A naturalist's perspective on the wildlife of Fish Creek in Upstate New York. Thursday, October 29, 2009. I took a much-needed mental health day today. Ahh! Imagine time in the morning to meditate; do my yoga; have a healthy breakfast; listen to lovely music; write in my journal; and then, over the course of the day, take three walks! This kind of self-nurturing is so crucial to mental and physical health! What a difference it makes in how I feel! I hav...

Birds, Butterflies, and Blossoms: A Nature Journal. A naturalist's perspective on the wildlife of Fish Creek in Upstate New York. Thursday, April 19, 2012. This one seemed a bit lost, he seemed to wander aimlessly, just hopping about, as though he wasn’t quite sure what he was looking for. And this is understandable, considering they leave their nest in as little as 11 days after hatching. This is, no doubt, due to the fact that the parents produce two to three clutches of eggs per season! According to W...

Sunday, March 1, 2015. January 25, 2015. Saratoga Spa State Park. If you would get exercise. Go in search of the springs of life. Think of a man’s swinging dumb-bells for his health,. Wednesday, September 10, 2014. September 11, 2014. Water’s Edge, Hudson Falls NY. Back in June, we watched several snapping turtles emerge from the canal.
