My Short Stint in Prison | Bit of Ireland
https://bitofireland.wordpress.com/2010/09/03/43
My Short Stint in Prison. Posted by Kevin Heim. On September 3, 2010 · Leave a Comment. The Victorian Expansion of Kilmainham Gaol. Today we visited Kilmainham Goal (pronounced jail) on the south side of Dublin. Built in 1796, the jail was expanded in the Victorian Era and is a model of classic Victorian prison design. The original section was cold, drafty and cramped, while the Victorian expansion was airy, bright and heated with steam from the kitchen below. Was feeling quite sick while touring the jai...

A Day for Beer. Posted by Kevin Heim. On September 3, 2010 · Leave a Comment. The St. James Gate Brewery is the original Guinness Brewery. We arrived late today to the Guinness Storehouse after several busses passed us by, (note to Dublin Bus Co: When a bus is consistently full, upgrade it to double decker service or add more busses. Not doing anything just makes people angry). The view from the Sky Bar. My Short Stint in Prison. Cafe at the Famine Museum →. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Notify me of new c...

Cafe at the Famine Museum. Posted by Kevin Heim. On September 3, 2010 · Leave a Comment. Finally, we have left Dublin! We took a motor coach towards Sligo and stopped at some fun and slightly ironic places along the way. Our first stop on our journey to Sligo was Trim Castle, Ireland’s largest. The ruins were in fairly good condition, considering the thing was built in the 11. The menu at the cafe at Strokestown House and Famine Museum. The castle that was the Clarion Hotel in Sligo. 300ft Above the Sea. Posted by Kevin Heim. On September 5, 2010 · Leave a Comment. Today was a journey! We went to the Aran Islands and Amanda found a husband (but more on that later). First, the journey to the Islands was a bit rough and dreary, it was misting and windy, though the wind and mist cleared up as soon as we arrived on the islands. The rocky landscape of the Aran Islands. Looking down from the top of Dun Aenghus. Amanda Stravinsky, meanwhile, abandoned us to go on a carriage ride with an Iri...

https://sweetpeat.wordpress.com/2010/08/24/irelands-fine-arts
An Irish story about a non-Irish girl travelling Ireland. Ireland’s fine arts: From Dublin to Galway. August 24, 2010 in Uncategorized. This is why I, a never-ending-learning journalist, came to Ireland. I love the arts and want everyone else to experience the uplifting gift the arts have to offer. The trip began with me scrambling to get a story. I was searching for a story outside my realm, something different. The arts were that story. The end result. A Portrait: My Ireland. A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. What A Week…. The day is July 18, 2010, day seven of studying abroad in Ireland! We were almost to the edge of the gate at the Marino when Lauren, Greta, Amanda and Kevin walk back through the gates. While we were all trying to figure out the miscommunication, we see the 123 bus we needed to be on pass by; oh, and then Katie calls wondering where we are. So new plan, wait for Katie and catch the next 123 bus to our destination: Kilmainham Gaol. You ar...

A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. Definitely A Galway Girl! The day is Thursday, July 22, 2010. We are going to Galway, finally! I have been looking forward to this for the entire trip, and with good reason. Galway. Is on the west coast of Ireland, and sits on the River Corrib. It is a vibrant place, yet ancient and historic. Galway city, with its seaside suburb of Salthill, is an important tourist centre and a gateway to the scenic areas of the county. Lovely women in Galway City!

It was quite amusing and something we all joked about continuously throughout the trip. Starting location for Dubliners' Walking Tour. A Portrait: My Ireland. A place to share my stories…. I’ll Have A Pint! Lets rewind to Monday, July 19, 2010: this is the last full day I spent in Dublin, Ireland with my CCSA group. The start of the day was pretty fabulous because we didn’t have anywhere to be until 2 pm and sleep makes me happy! However, I had to stop by the bank before we all met up at the Guinness Storehouse. We eventually made it to the Guinness Storehouse where Quigley was patiently waiting on us. Welcome to the Guinness Storehouse.
