My thoughts on technology and other stuff. Vendor Lock-in and Cloud Providers. I have heard the phase (fear of) “vendor lock-in” used several times in the last few weeks associated with cloud providers. I’ve been wondering if there really is such a thing? By that I mean taking advantage of any cloud provider facilities/capabilities may save you time and reduce cost. Moving to another provider just means mapping your interfaces/functions to the new provider features or else implementing what is missing.

My thoughts on technology and other stuff. A few months ago I bought a NextDesk Terra standing desk. And wanted to pass along a update on my experiences with it. The bamboo surface is subject to dents so you should be careful about dropping or banging stuff on it. I have had a few dings but am still satisfied with the surface. All in all I recommend it and no real complaints so far.

I think that 2015 will bring profound advances in Augmented and Virtual Reality with the introduction of practical consumer devices. I was reading a recent article at wired.com/2015/01/vr-filmmaking-pioneers/. VR can be either entirely graphically generated or a video view.
