ES6 + ES7, EcmaScript 2015 -- Harmony .. WHAT? @ nodeconf 2015 · fritzvd

http://blog.fritzvd.com/2015/07/01/es6-es7-ecmascript-2015-harmony-what-nodeconf-2015

ES6 + ES7, EcmaScript 2015 - Harmony . WHAT? JavaScript gets a new version, what now. Languages are never done. They evolve over time and are supplemented with new words every month, new phrases every year and acquires (minor) grammar changes every decade. This true for speaking languages as well as for programming languages. In the node community there has been some commotion surrounding ES6 because most of the features were suddenly being implemented in a fork of node called “io.js”&#46...If you want t...

Containers (Docker, LXC) @ nodeconf 2015 · fritzvd

Containers (Docker, LXC) @ nodeconf 2015. Containers, like the ones you put sundries in? Why would you do that? Instead of killing a process or restarting a server, you just swap out a container. Deployment can become instant. You test the container on your local box, integration server, staging and production, it will be a matter of switching to an image, instead of deploying the code on there. If it doesn’t work, you can just go back a commit. Easy as pie. The people from Modulus. June 23, 2015.

Mad Science Act – part 1@ nodeconf.eu · fritzvd

http://blog.fritzvd.com/2014/09/15/mad-science-act-part-1-nodeconf-eu

Mad Science Act – part 1@ nodeconf.eu. The Mad Science Act, was something completely different. It featured many topics and some of the most creative and prolific npmjs.org authors. It was a bit mad, so I’ll try to make it as coherent as I understood it. I have split up the post in 2 parts. It would be too much put into one. 8211; Mad Science intro. Orthogonal – substack. This is where it all went fuzzy. Then Substack did some live code demo’s, to create a quick webserver, continuous integration se...

Universal (Isomorphic) JavaScript and Modular UI @ nodeconf 2015 · fritzvd

http://blog.fritzvd.com/2015/06/22/isomorphic-javascript-and-modular-ui-nodeconf-2015

Universal (Isomorphic) JavaScript and Modular UI @ nodeconf 2015. NB This one of the first sessions held at nodeconf, everybody was still somewhat rusty. Isomorphic JavaScript is the practice of using the same JavaScript code on the server and in the browser. In the session we talked about how to best implement this, and what to avoid. The naming is ridiculous, so let’s just use Universal JavaScript. Or the module tree analysis by @hughsk. This kind of moved on to the discussion of Modular UI which was a...

FBX and 3d models in Monogame – on Linux · fritzvd

FBX and 3d models in Monogame – on Linux. TL;DR the monogame community is pretty great. Lately my manic ambitious mode has turned on again for me. So I have about 100s of ideas again, which sadly of course will all come to nothing. But while I’m at it, I thought I’d make the best of it to do some tutorials here and there and learn some stuff I know nothing about. If you’re not very comfortable with. PS you can find some great free models here: http:/ tf3dm.com/. May 19, 2015. Comments powered by Disqus.

On the Nature of Progress. Kevin M. Keating. I’ve been thinking a lot about change recently. About how we all move through time — how time passes seemingly without end. How progress is inevitable, inescapable, incontrovertible. And yet the word progress. Is not quite right for what’s happening and that’s been bugging me. In one sense, sure, it’s pretty indisputable that we are moving forward, for there is no alternative. But progress implies moving upward. I’m not saying it isn’t. For all the strides we&...

Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Attacking UEFI Runtime Services and Linux. Attackers with physical access are able to attack the firmware on many fully patched computers with DMA - Direct Memory Access. Once code execution is gained in UEFI/EFI Runtime Services it is possible to use this foothold to take control of a running Linux system. Cannot reach the Linux kernel directly. Since the EFI Runtime Services are usually located below 4GB they offer a way into Linux on high memory EFI booting systems. The EF...
