Contemporary Native: August 2009
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Monday, August 31, 2009. There are a lot of issues out there that are political and for the life of me I don't know why. Most are personal issues that should have nothing to do with government. Certainly there are plenty of things I believe the government should get involved in, but the following list (part one) is not included:. Prayer in Public Schools. Do you see it? I keep hearing about the definition of marriage these days. Who defines it? Sweden not the USA! But back to my m...

Contemporary Native: March 2012
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Jack of all Trades. My position included all graphic design for independent projects outside of the newspaper itself, all design jobs for the offset press, one big yearly magazine for the rally, a quarterly gambling magazine for Deadwood, the snowmobiling tab that ran weekly over the winter, and the weekly Sunday giant shopping inserts. I learned so much at that newspaper. Their system was so dated when I got there! I eventually left that job to take a pos...

Contemporary Native: When You Have to Tell Them
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2012/05/when-you-have-to-tell-them.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Monday, May 21, 2012. When You Have to Tell Them. Some of you have been there. It starts with the moment you learn something that you KNOW will adversely effect someone you care about. What do you do? If it is bad enough do you contact the "authorities"? Do you tell them knowing they'll probably hate you forever? But not for one family I know. My husband said it doesn't matter. The more time that was allowed to flow by, the worse the situation could get. I had to tell them. Karen ...

Contemporary Native: September 2009
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Thursday, September 10, 2009. The Great Depression should have taught us something about perseverance and hope. I completely believe we have our own '50s generation coming. Yes, what goes up must come down (I tried telling people that about the stock market back in the late '90s). But the opposite is also true. Our economy, and us, will rise again. My own mantra, and I hope it helps America, is to find beauty in every day. Now stop moaning and smile. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Contemporary Native: October 2009
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Saturday, October 17, 2009. I have a passion for food I admit. And over the years I've eaten some pretty good stuff. Unfortunately, a lot of it has disappeared due to restaurant closings, chefs leaving, menu changes, etc. So I wanted to write an ode to food I will never forget:. Broccoli Cheese and Noodle Soup - Filling Station, Pierre, SD (closed). Lutefisk Supper, Lutheran Church, Kennebec, SD (chef change and probably not held anymore). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A middle aged...

Contemporary Native: March 2010
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Wednesday, March 10, 2010. I don't buy into conspiracies. They often require a suspension of disbelief that is of vast proportions. The more elaborate, the less believable. I hear you. You are saying that some things are so unbelievable they can't be made up. Yo, I read sci-fi and high fantasy. Writing about the unbelievable is really not hard with the right imagination. A Dr Moriarty or Lex Luther for the modern age if you will? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A middle aged mother of...

Contemporary Native: The Price of Family Shame
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2012/05/price-of-family-shame.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Monday, May 21, 2012. The Price of Family Shame. This is probably the hardest post I will ever write. The problem is ingrained in almost every culture. Even though statistics show our streets are as safe as they were back in the 1970s, we still keep our children close and don't them run about town because of "stranger danger.". I reject "stranger danger.". I maintain that for every bully, sociopath, psychopath, molester, gynophile, pedophile, rapist, hater - for every predator - t...

Contemporary Native: July 2009
http://contemporary-native.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Rantings on Daily Life. Friday, July 24, 2009. If it's not your garbage, who's is it? Littering is a huge pet peeve of mine. I've heard all the excuses, "Gives others something to do.", "What they say about garbage piling up is eco. It is your property. But once there is only the packaging left, suddenly it doesn't belong to you anymore. No longer your responsibility. Garbage. Ever complained about finding 'garbage' on your lawn, stuck to your car, on your front step? Pisses ya off, right? Adopt-a-road p...
