Veggie Friendly: September 2008
http://veggiefriendly.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 15, 2008. Eggs poached in tomato sauce. Tomato sauce may be my favorite food, so this super-easy dish. Really, uh, buttered my toast? I did serve it with buttered toast, sliced from a day-old Whole Foods baguette.) If you like cheap, easy, satisfying meals that can be served at any meal time, this recipe is for you. I don't think I'll ever try to poach eggs in water again. I always screw them up, and this is so much more flavorful. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Vegan Beer Guide.

Veggie Friendly: September 2007
http://veggiefriendly.blogspot.com/2007_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 24, 2007. A fancy pizza party. Pizza is a great equalizer in a veggie/carnivore crowd. Even meat eaters like cheese pizza, so there's almost always a veggie option when there's pizza ordering going on in a group (I'm thinking mostly of work right now, when we get 15 pizzas delivered for a meeting). And then most people like onions, peppers or mushrooms, so those are pretty standard pizza toppings and some good dependable toppings for vegetarians. Because it is so delicious and close to ...

Veggie Friendly: June 2008

Sunday, June 29, 2008. Bulgur" doesn't sound delicious. But it can be! I have twice recently cooked with bulgur - first to make these bulgur veggie burgers. Since I have lots of bulgur now, I decided to make tabouli this weekend. I winged this one, soaking the bulgur in boiling water until tender and then mixing with garlic, lemon juice, red wine vinegar, olive oil, green onions, tomatoes, cucumber, radishes, lots of fresh parsley and mint, and feta. Mmmmm! Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Is such an absolute ha...

Veggie Friendly: Speaking of hummus
http://veggiefriendly.blogspot.com/2008/04/speaking-of-hummus.html
Thursday, April 10, 2008. To follow up on Christine's insistence upon above-average hummus, a quick note about my favorite store-bought hummuses (hummi? John and I really like Sabra hummus. Oh my, great recommendation for the Sabra's hummus. I found it at the Dedham Stop and Shop and I'm loving it. The texture is perfect! I liked that the flavored ones weren't just the standard varieties (roasted red pepper, garlic).next time I'm going to try the pine nut. Yum, I like the sound of the TJ's cilantro too.

Veggie Friendly: Two restaurants for Boston vegetarians to daydream about
http://veggiefriendly.blogspot.com/2008/06/two-restaurants-for-boston-vegetarians.html
Wednesday, June 4, 2008. Two restaurants for Boston vegetarians to daydream about. I know I'm supposed to be searching out good vegetarian eats here in Boston, but sometimes I have to take the show on the road. The show has been on the road a lot lately, and happily I had two transcendant veggie experiences out there. One was at Malabar. In Santa Cruz, CA, and the other at Maoz. It's probably not really fair to wish Boston could have a Malabar, because Santa Cruz. I was at the one on South Street.

Shift Across America: A story of survival and revival
http://shiftacrossamerica.blogspot.com/2009/06/story-of-survival-and-revival.html
A story of survival and revival. This grocery store JUST opened in Gentilly, finally giving the residents access to a local food market, nearly 4 years after the flood. Residents there called it a HUGE step forward. In my 36 hours or so in New Orleans, I got to see a LOT of the city, and not once did my feet touch Bourbon Street. My main tour guide (We'll call him Clark), took me to the authentic and local areas instead, and I was glad that he did. He finally made it to the only 3 decker house on the blo...
