Aspirin and Boku-maru: October 2013
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 25, 2013. Last Friday night, the Bug's school had a dance. Yes, I know she's in the first grade. Yes, I am fully aware that we have plenty of years still ahead, during which there will be ample opportunity to introduce our children to highly awkward social situations. Nonetheless, it was a dance. And since the Bug wanted to go, we went. We'll be back. The girls are already excited for it. Wednesday, October 23, 2013. The Count of Monte Cristo. In order to take just the middle 100 pages ba...

Aspirin and Boku-maru: December 2013
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 30, 2013. By the end of Mockingjay. The third and final book in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games Trilogy, I was pretty ready for the series to be over. The first person present narration had grown tedious, the bizarre love triangle held no interest for me, I'd grown weary of Katniss whining. But there were some bright spots and I'd still categorize it as an enjoyable read. The book picks up shortly after the events of Catching Fire. The near-final scenes were great, suspenseful and emotiona...

Aspirin and Boku-maru: April 2014
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2014_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 17, 2014. Despite my expectations, Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre. Bears stark contrast with the Jane Austen novels I've come to love. Her Victorian style is somehow darker, with hints of the supernatural or of magical realism. Bronte also seems not to prize physical beauty, or more, to associate it with serious character flaws. This is romance that has entertained for over 150 years, and it's a novel that is certain to do so for another 150. By George R.R. Martin. here I come! I am an incr...

Aspirin and Boku-maru: September 2013
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 12, 2013. Lake concerts are awesome. What we only learned last month, though, is that on the other. Wednesdays there's still a lake concert - one with a suggested donation that benefits a local organization. These are a far smaller scene, and the kids have to swarm in the trees and lawn (no bouncy house), but it gives the adults a chance to actually relax while we sip wine outside and listen to music. That's our buddy - the dude in the green skirt. Nice post-concert view, right? My ad...

Aspirin and Boku-maru: A Game of Thrones
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2014/05/a-game-of-thrones.html
Wednesday, May 14, 2014. A Game of Thrones. I know I've had trouble finding much time to write for the last couple of months. I've got postcards to post, travel and dives to detail and much more to share. Unfortunately, time in front of the screen - especially the one attached to my hard drive filled with photos - has been light. I'll do my best to improve. I've been watching the HBO series A Game of Thrones. Still, I will certainly continue the series, although I may opt for a change of pace after the s...

Aspirin and Boku-maru: January 2014
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 13, 2014. Postcard of the beautiful capital, sent to the Bug and Bunny. On our way from the airport to our downtown hotel (a drive lasting all of 10 minutes), we passed a very intriguing sculpture garden. The next morning, that was our primary destination. We met a cousin on the deserted streets - there are seriously zero. A couple of years ago. By Mark di Suvero. Untitled (Three Dancing Figures, version C). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Aspirin and Boku-maru: August 2013
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Friday, August 16, 2013. Backpacking. (Makes camping look easy.). A number of years ago, both my sister and my brother started backpacking with my Dad. I pretty much figured that was their special thing, and that was totally cool. But when Joker and I started camping with the kids, I realized I was missing out. This spring, my Dad threatened to hang up his hikers. If a trip went off this year, it would be his last. Even though I didn't really believe him, I signed on. Lakes in the Wilderness. Next mornin...

Aspirin and Boku-maru: Mima and Boppie's autumn adventure
http://aspirinandboku-maru.blogspot.com/2014/11/mima-and-boppies-autumn-adventure.html
Saturday, November 8, 2014. Mima and Boppie's autumn adventure. This October, instead of traveling to Europe, Mima and Boppie road tripped it up to Yellowstone via the Grand Tetons. It sounded like a fabulous trip, and we're now trying to decide between that and the Grand Canyon for our 2015 summer vacation. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
