We woke up at 6am planning to head for the peak of Gokyo Ri, but the weather was overcast and we couldn’t even see the summit, so we decided to change plans and hike to the “Fifth Lake” — which was a longer (but much flatter) hike. Really big. For our three-night stay, we found an AirBNB apartment that turned out to be well-located next to the AirLink express train. So even though Bangkok is a giant sprawling city, our trip from the airport to our apartment only took 20 minutes! Kiwi camper time … New Zealand Part 1. After our 4am wakeup and 6:55 am flight, we were ready for some rest when we arrived in Auckland, so we checked into the airport hotel and took a little nap. Then we woke up, ate some Thai noodles and a Subway sandwich from the airport, watched a movie, and slept some more. That’s all for now! To Chile and Easter Island! We had a 5pm flight out of Auckland, NZ on January 17th and after an eleven hour flight we landed at noon on the same day. Bizarro that you can travel back in time (thank you international date line! After two quick nights in Santiago we caught a six hour flight out to Easter Island.
