Kunstproject op Calcutta Rescue scholen. Op initiatief van het Japanse consulaat in Kolkata is een kunstproject uitgevoerd waarin kinderen van Calcutta Rescue scholen via tekeningen vertelden over hun dromen. In Nederland werd in 1990 de Nederlandse Support groep opgericht. In andere Europese landen onstonden vergelijkbare netwerken en tot op de dag van vandaag zorgen supportgroepen in een heel aantal landen, dat het werk van Calcutta Rescue niet alleen wordt gesponsord, maar dat ook vrijwilligers worden geworven en uitgezonden voor het werk in Kolkata. Missie en Visie Calcutta Rescue Nederland. Stichting Calcutta Rescue Nederland stelt zich tot doel de allerarmsten in en rondom Kolkata te ondersteunen door het verlenen van medische zorg, voorlichting en preventie. Daarnaast richten we ons op het structureel verbeteren van de positie van de armsten door het bieden van onderwijs, scholing en werkgelegenheid. Calcutta Rescue Nederland draagt direct bij aan de volgende millennium doelen. 1 In 2015 zijn extreme armoede en honger uitgebannen.

Het programma heeft zicht ontwikkeld tot een handicraft programma, met de fairtrade status. Bijna alle werkers zijn patiënten, vaak weduwen of vrouwen in de steek gelaten door hun echtgenote, of wiens echtgenoot te ziek is om te werken. Ook studenten voor wie het leren op een school te moeilijk is worden toegelaten in het programma. Ook naaien de vrouwen school uniforms voor de leerlingen van de de eigen scholen.
