He totally changed his attitude overall and took the approach of “I can do this”. Oliver* has been a Camp Kirk camper since 2009. He has a multiple diagnosis ranging from a Learning Disability to Attention Deficit Disorder and Autism Spectrum Disorder. However, his strong desire to return to camp drove him to modify his behavior and he resolved to have a successful session at camp this past summer. He totally changed his attitude overall and took the approach of “I can do this”. Over the years he continued to sharpen his social skills and has developed incredible leadership skills. Participation in everyday camp life really helped boost Amelia’s self-esteem and we started to see a very charismatic and outgoing girl.

Participation in everyday camp life really helped boost Amelia’s self-esteem and we started to see a very charismatic and outgoing girl. Amelia* is an 11-year-old girl who has a Learning Disability, ADHD, bedwetting issues and an anxiety disorder. It was her first summer at camp and she was extremely anxious. We discovered that she has an incredible talent with music and dance, and it was a highlight for Amelia, her parents, and the staff to see her perform in front of whole camp by the end of the session.

He came in 2007 with a multiple diagnosis of Learning Disability, ADD, and serious difficulties with written and expressive language.
