While Alcan is not currently using it’s full generating capacity, just to give you an idea of how much water this is, 700 cubic meters per second is just short of a quarter of a billion liters of water per day. At this moment in time, the price of a liter of bottled water is on par with the price of a liter of gasoline. And collecting this water is much less costly and leaves a much smaller footprint on the environment than drilling for oil.
