2000 Mariah Shabah Z250: She Gets New Eyes
http://shabahz250.blogspot.com/2007/05/she-gets-new-eyes.html
Tuesday, May 8, 2007. She Gets New Eyes. So I conjured up this idea about swapping all my lights to LED's after an episode on the river last year that almost drained my batteries. I know LED's only use a fraction of what regular bulbs use, and put off much less heat. So I figured what the hell, it'd be worth a try. I did some searching on the net, came up with a few limited resources. I found SuperBright LED's. So then came the courtesy lights. I used the same 5 LED fixtures as the engine lights to p...

2000 Mariah Shabah Z250: May 2007
http://shabahz250.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 22, 2007. Finally I found some time to take the boat out again, this time with the digital camera! The first thing I noticed was there was very few people out, and it was truly a beautiful warm summer evening last night. Not quite sure why there weren't more boats out, but it was a Monday night. As I headed up river, I began to notice the water level is much lower than before. AND, the drift was extremely heavy. Everything from empty Gatorade bottles, to Styrofoam (from docks maybe? Anyway, ...

2000 Mariah Shabah Z250: Holy....
http://shabahz250.blogspot.com/2007/06/holy.html
Tuesday, June 12, 2007. After bringing the boat back from Lake Norris, I started cleaning the hull, not because of the water at Norris, but because of the Ohio River residue that was on there before the trip! I armed myself with some Hull Cleaner, two buckets and a few rags. I put some serious work into getting the river stains out, and when coming around the front of the hull, I looked and saw this. So the investigation begins. Closeup of deepest one. So I applied it on, here's the finished product.

2000 Mariah Shabah Z250: April 2007
http://shabahz250.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 28, 2007. Been working on cleaning the boat every night, after a bottle of Bass Pro Mold and Mildew remover, here's the progress. Can really tell the difference in this pic. I've decided it's probably a good idea to remove everything from the boat, and give it a full-on mold removal treatment. So, I removed the side trim panels, in order to treat everything behind them, and it'll give me a chance to do a more thorough cleaning out of the boat. Tuesday, April 24, 2007. Bass Pro comes thru!

Monday, June 25, 2007. The motor seems to be runing much better! We took the boat to Cowan this weekend and did some extended motoring. It did stall once, but this was after a long run at full throttle (I think I ran it a bit too hard and it overheated). Looks like the fuel mix and the gas cap were the culprits! Yep, the motor was MUCH better than the past few times. Now we just need to get some better winds! I'm up for exploring another lake sometime just to see what's out there! View my complete profile.

Monday, November 27, 2006. Since that Sunday evening in October when I was told I was a boat owner I have been dying to get my new girl home. This past Friday it happened! After weeks of talk, prep and dreaming she now sits in the backyard. From here on out, the pictures are fuzzy. I forgot my camera, but Chris had his phone* *. Resulted in new bearings and races, Bearing Buddies. But first, a well deserved rest after a long day. Happy Thanksgiving! Sunday, November 12, 2006. Look at that nasty sail bag!

Sunday, August 5, 2007. All good things must come to an end. In the meantime, I will be moving forward on the purchase of my "new" boat this week. It's a 1972 Columbia 26 MKII. I will be keeping the boat docked in Sandusky, OH on Lake Erie (quite a bit bigger that Cowan Lake)! You can check out some photos below. I will also be starting a new blog on the Columbia's adventures, likely at a new address. So keep posted and soon I will post the link on this page. Happy sailing, and here's to the new owners!
