I thoroughly enjoyed my January 4 visit to Warren County. Since I'd never been to Warren County. Before, I did some quick research beforehand. The county was formed in 1779, and named for John Warren. The county seat is Warrenton. On my way to my first planned stop in Ridgeway, I passed through Manson, thanks to the small post office!

Yadkin County was formed in 1850 from Surry County, south of the Yadkin River (after which the county is named). It's considered part of the piedmont (middle) region of North Carolina, but the Brushy Mountains. Skirt the western part of Yadkin.

Because it's an easy 2.5 drive from home, a place we'd never been before, AND because the North Carolina Pecan Harvest Festival. Was happening in Whiteville. So, we headed for Whiteville.

Back in March 2009, I decided to sign up for the Outer Banks Marathon, my first marathon, partly for the location. I'd been to the Outer Banks as a junior high school student, so needless to say, it had been a while since I'd been to Dare County. We spent the night in Kitty Hawk. One of the highlights for me was running around the Wright Brothers National Memorial.
