Downsizing: File under "Recycle"
http://reedisdownsizing.blogspot.com/2009/07/file-under-recycle.html
A small personal challenge: Beginning August 1, 2009, get rid of at least one item per day for the next 365 days. Sunday, August 2, 2009. 8/2/09: Box of old school files, recycled. I've had this box of files in my closet for six years. It contains the absolutely vital. Files that I saved after leaving my teaching job at Future Leaders Institute. To move back to Maine. Even now, as sort it for recycling, I have pangs of fear. What if I need these examples of student work? August 4, 2009 at 5:19 AM. Day 1:...

Downsizing: The bottom line
http://reedisdownsizing.blogspot.com/2010/08/bottom-line.html
A small personal challenge: Beginning August 1, 2009, get rid of at least one item per day for the next 365 days. Tuesday, August 10, 2010. Six dollars and seventy-three cents per day. Over the last year, my downsizing gig payed $6.73 a day. Not bad, I don't think. Sure, if I had to support a family on it, things would be a little tight, but, considering that it was all supplemental income, I think it's commendable. I rarely get around to doing math. EBay: $728 (after subtracting eBay and PayPal fees).

Downsizing: The day after
http://reedisdownsizing.blogspot.com/2010/08/day-after.html
A small personal challenge: Beginning August 1, 2009, get rid of at least one item per day for the next 365 days. Sunday, August 1, 2010. What a wonderful day. While I carry the lessons of Downsizing with me, it was rather pleasant to not have to think, for one moment, about what I would get rid of today. And, in fact, I didn't get rid of a thing. That's right, downsizing lives on! I bet it promises to be an even more entertaining year than I gave you. August 2, 2010 at 6:59 AM. So glad to hear that you ...

Downsizing: On the road again
http://reedisdownsizing.blogspot.com/2010/06/on-road-again.html
A small personal challenge: Beginning August 1, 2009, get rid of at least one item per day for the next 365 days. Monday, June 21, 2010. On the road again. 6/21/10 Approximately seven to-go cups, never acquired. After a long weekend with my grandmother in Ohio, we hit the road again this morning, heading west towards Colorado. Actually reuses those cups anyway, so it's a huge waste to accept them. June 21, 2010 at 9:16 PM. Seriously, though, how Zen are you? Whats the ecological impact of an acquisition ...

Downsizing: Broken beyond repair
http://reedisdownsizing.blogspot.com/2010/02/broken-beyond-repair.html
A small personal challenge: Beginning August 1, 2009, get rid of at least one item per day for the next 365 days. Saturday, February 20, 2010. 2/20/10 Three broken keepsakes, trashed. I always think I can fix it. I'm just not sure how. I've been juggling these three broken items on my workbench in the basement, moving them back and forth as I puttered on other projects. Every time I touched one of them, of course, I thought to myself, "I need to glue that back together.". February 20, 2010 at 8:14 PM.

Downsizing: The Journey
http://reedisdownsizing.blogspot.com/2010/08/journey.html
A small personal challenge: Beginning August 1, 2009, get rid of at least one item per day for the next 365 days. Thursday, August 19, 2010. One message that was driven home for me over and over during the course of the Downsizing Challenge was that the journey is just as important as the destination. This fact hung in my mind today as we launched a brand new school here in Denver. We opened the doors of SOAR Charter School. To 240 eager kindergarten, first, and second grade students and their families.
