Chicago was interesting from the water, but it was time to move on, so we've traversed the Illinois Waterway which consisted of the rest of the Chicago River, the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, the Des Planes River, and mostly the Illinois River. 5 NOV 9 NOV 2001. The Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway (Tenn-Tom) canal section. After a very nice stay at the cotton springs dock near the Jamie Whitten Lock, we expected to start roughing it once again. Not so, we delightfully discovered. We had scouted up to the next lock with Pedigo, so we knew the next stop would be near Fulton, MS and the Jamie Whitten Visitor’s Center. We flew full sails all day. Right at the visitor’s center the next day, and stayed there for four days Windigo @ Whitten Center.JPG.

A few of you that were in contact with us over the holidays realize we are in Mobile, Alabama and at the end of our inland river voyage. This letter details our final days on the rivers and tells of the transition from a surveyed, constructed waterway [the Tenn-Tom] to a natural, winding river the TomBigbee. The first evening in Demopolis we were treated to Christmas on the River , a parade of ‘floating floats’. Many of them animated!

Yes, we seem to be living a somewhat normal life if you call anything we do normal . . . Existed at the same. Time while we were sailing on the bay, and no rain. Fell on Windigo that day! The true definition of scattered showers . The Fourth of July. Celebration brought several tall. To Mobile to celebrate. 300 Years of Sailing on Mobile Bay’ has been the theme all year. The USCG barque Eagle. Up the bay on the Fourth. Although I never plan on needing an open water rescue, we had a taste of the helicopter.
