Schpatz Lager: 2011.02
http://schpatz.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
A full-bodied blog with a smooth finish. Thursday, February 24, 2011. More on income inequality, this time from Robert Reich. He speaks about this particular issue frequently. I've been a big fan of his ideas for changes to the tax code for years. A Brief Bit on Inequality. I've been getting more and more frustrated with American politics lately, and this. Particular set of infographics from Mother Jones really helps to drive home one of the issues that really concerns me most: rising inequality.

Schpatz Lager: The Disposable Society
http://schpatz.blogspot.com/2006/07/disposable-society.html
A full-bodied blog with a smooth finish. Monday, June 16, 2008. The developing world seems to have one advantage that we may lack: repair culture. The developed world has lost this, as more and more consumables are made to be disposable. Everything we buy is built with a short life-time and minimal durability. It leads us to ask:. Is disposability stifling innovation, or does it help to drive it? In some ways, the technology industry is to blame for the loss of this repair culture. Continually increa...

A full-bodied blog with a smooth finish. Monday, August 27, 2007. Damn it, I'm slow! Ok, so I have been reading (honest! Only I'm a bit slow. I've been also doing a little bit (and the operative word in that sentence is "little") bit of writing on the technical. I'll get there eventually. I have been spending an inordinate amount of time reading blogs on these sorts of subjects. I'll post up a decent list shortly. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Schpatz Lager: Prepare the Tin Foil!
http://schpatz.blogspot.com/2008/12/prepare-tin-foil.html
A full-bodied blog with a smooth finish. Thursday, December 11, 2008. Prepare the Tin Foil! Is crazy: scientists in Japan have developed a way to read the visual information of what a person is seeing directly from their brains. Subjects were showing simple 10x10 pixel images, like the ones on the left. The subject's visual corteces were monitored via a fMRI. The resulting images of activity were analyzed by computer, and the images on the bottom were reproduced. Hat tip to BoingBoing. Just Out of Town.

A full-bodied blog with a smooth finish. Saturday, December 02, 2006. A Return to Essays. For a year now, I've been only writing on my travel blog. Things have returned to the Ordinary, so I plan to return to writing essays on random topics of my interest. Most of my thinking in the past few months has leaned towards the philosophical. I've been reading a lot of Wikipedia. Entries on various philosophers and theirs ideas in an effort to introduce myself to the field. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

A full-bodied blog with a smooth finish. Thursday, March 23, 2006. Lure of the Eye. For anyone who owns a Mac PowerBook of a more recent incarnation, there is a little white LED on the front, set into the button for opening the laptop screen. This little white light pulses in slow, methodical time when the laptop is sleeping. It is like a siren's song, drawing in the user towards that button. Wake the Eye, is all it is asking. But the Eye sleeps. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

MAGIC EYES…. | Sashita's ISRAEL Blog
https://sashita888.wordpress.com/2010/02/14/magic-eyes
Sashita's ISRAEL Blog. MAGIC EYES…. February 14, 2010. My last day in Cairo. All my traveling companions had left and I was spending a day alone, roaming around the now familiar streets, peeking into book shops. I was on a quest: to find a good historical account of the life of Cleopatra. I was needing some inspiration about a tough female who didn’t take crap or ‘no’ for an answer. Of a state, rather than a reality. It is the patriotism for an order that might. Boats on River Nile. That’s pretty h...

Shalom from Afar.. | Sashita's ISRAEL Blog
https://sashita888.wordpress.com/2009/11/21/shalom-from-afar
Sashita's ISRAEL Blog. Shalom from Afar. November 21, 2009. It has been a while. So I now decide to rekindle the delicate flame of my simple story…. In the last few weeks I have managed to start READING in Hebrew (which brings me joy), to lose my wallet and U.S. Passport (which brings me sorrow), and to become totally overwhelmed with Arabic grammar (which leaves me with a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). You felt bad before…how do you feel now? So, I armed myself with his contact information and a hope ...
