Tea Time With The Teacher: The Little Things
http://teatimewiththeteacher.blogspot.com/2011/11/little-things.html
Tea Time With The Teacher. Sunday, November 6, 2011. I must share one of the best cards that I've gotten with all of you (The pictures are a little funny because I am trying to hide the student's name):. The front says: "As long as you are out I will read every book on. EARTH". The first inside cover says:. The poem goes like this:. Title: I am used to tears. 2 Sniff and shiver. I will share all the pain. Sharing is more beautiful than a horse's mane. Lot's of others do not feel the same. PS I Made This.

http://teatimewiththeteacher.blogspot.com/2011/11/say-i-can.html
Tea Time With The Teacher. Tuesday, November 15, 2011. Say, "I Can". Today began the visual of our "No Excuses Campaign" in my classroom. Below there is a photo of our no excuses wall. Attached to the clothes pins are notecards with all of the excuses my students have ever made (in English, Spanish, and maybe even some French! We are hanging our excuses out to dry and fly away. We CAN. Make a difference in our lives by saying goodbye to excuses, goodbye to "I can't," and hello to I CAN. PS I Made This.

Tea Time With The Teacher. Monday, July 18, 2011. Faces of My Students. Two weeks ago. The summer school students were all at this lunch with tons of big donors and other influential people in the district and halfway through the event the students broke out into this great song. Student advocacy has been a big topic in the news lately, or it is "trending" right now. In this article in the. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A New Orleans Nexus. Google's Man in Africa. Tea Time With The Teacher: December 2010
http://teatimewiththeteacher.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Tea Time With The Teacher. Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Between Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break is one of the more challenging times for teachers. Over the past few weeks I have felt as if my students might explode, but the same goes for me. This Friday is our halfway celebration for Teach For America and I can't quite believe that much time has gone by. I am, admittedly, quite ready for a break! Sunday, December 5, 2010. Thank you to my sister for sharing another wonderful TED talk with me:. How wi...

Smog: The Small Blog: Bluebird with a Side of Freshies

Smog: The Small Blog. Monday, July 28, 2008. Bluebird with a Side of Freshies. Powder days are every skier's unicorn, metaphorically speaking. Powder days come and go, usually when the skier has some unavoidable compromise or is somehow physically unable to get to the mountain, i.e. broken legs, decapitation, wrecked car, or natural disaster. Seeing that I missed an incredible snowy Vermont season last winter due to extreme distance so the powder itch was still in full force. The third day my father and ...

Smog: The Small Blog. Friday, August 15, 2008. Cusco and Machu Picchu. As I sit in the Bogota International terminal I realize that I have come full circle. February 1st I was laying on the floor across the hall for 9 hours as I anticipated the throngs of Rio, stumbling and mumbling as I tried to comunicate with airport workers over the location of an ATM. Now, over seven months later this terminal still sucks. No restaurant, no bar, two fuzzy T.V.s. August 20, 2008 at 6:11 PM. Can you visit us?

Smog: The Small Blog. Friday, June 20, 2008. Sometimes I forget where I am because I can watch House and Law and Order SVU on the tele. But then I am ripped back to reality when:. All the public school teachers in the country go on strike for a week. There are puddles in the classrooms because the glass windows are shattered. I kill an insect in the bathroom that my family assures me is not a scorpion. Men ride horses down city streets alongside cops who look disturbingly similar to green storm troopers.

Smog: The Small Blog. Thursday, May 29, 2008. The first stop was the main city of Castro, the capital of the region renowned for the palafitos, houses built over the water on stilts. Chiloé was known for these houses but after the 1960 earthquake most were destroyed and the people of Castro were the only ones crazy enough to keep up this impractical style of living. We planned on returning to Valpo Saturday night but Chile was struck by the heaviest rains. Saturday, May 17, 2008. Twice a week now myself ...
