The school architecture of the early 1970s was rarely attractive and that was especially true of those facilities such as the Jowett Block, constructed in response to the raising of the school leaving age in 1972. Hectic from start to finish the Year 8’s worked tirelessly in teams to configure, test and hone their scratch built solar powered model boats. Weather was generally wet and overcast on Race Day but by no means did it dampen the spirits of all students involved! More than just a boat race.
