Cooking at Café D: Taste Alike: Corner Bakery's Pesto Cavatappi - In 15 Minutes

http://www.cookingatcafed.com/2009/07/taste-alike-corner-bakerys-pesto.html

Sunday, July 26, 2009. Taste Alike: Corner Bakery's Pesto Cavatappi - In 15 Minutes. Chicken Pesto Cavatappi in 15 Minutes. Every once in a while I like to just grab a book and head to Corner Bakery Cafe. I love their Pesto Cavatappi. And, if I do this only occasionally, I don't mind the price. But, I make a fast "cheat" at home that I think would rival their version any day. It's quick, pretty cheap, and mighty flavorful. Okay, so here's how I make it in 15 minutes. 6 Add the sauce to the chicken and pa...

Friday, September 17, 2010. Vintage Guest Book.Getting its Kicks! Wow, weddings can be expensive! Even if you are trying to keep it.real. So, for each and everything we buy, I'm trying to keep two things in mind. 1) Can this be gotten or made for less? 2) Can I make it more personal? So, I thought how can I make it more personal? Since we are having a huge board game night the night before our wedding I thought I would see what Etsy.com had to offer. You prolly know by now that I love all things (well, m...

Thursday, January 31, 2008. Easy 15 Minute Danishes! These went over really well at Christmas. So, I thought I would share them with you. Now, here's the best part. The are really easy. So, these little danish-y things are. Super easy, taste great, are less-filling (sorry! And come courtesy of my friend Deb. The second batch (sorry, no pics) included strawberry seedless jam, sugar-free orange marmalade, and even chocolate chips. Yum! For now, I've been calling them. 4 cans of 8 crescent rolls. The continuing saga of an intrepid Wisconsinite and newly-moved Madisonian, exploring his new home. with some foodie goodness and some political/religious observations thrown in to boot. Monday, August 10, 2009. Two-plus years later, I am still exploring, but my desperation to immerse myself in new cuisine has slowed from “frothing cauldron of doom” to a steady boil. As such, there are certain times and certain places where one does not feel. experimental. My father has a breakfast place. Now retired...

The Traveling German's Wife: April 2011

http://thethomps.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

The Traveling German's Wife. Tuesday, April 12, 2011. A Week and a Half of Sunshine. Sowhat do you do when you've had it with the freezing cold, miserable winter? Why, you go visit Grammy, Granddad and Aunt Jenni in sunny AZ! I got a fun sun hat and loved not wearing long pants or socks for a week and a half! I figured out that dipping my toes in the water was more fun if I held my head sideways. I liked these Grammy and Granddad peeps, but the water was waaaaay fun, too. We visited this crew. The Traveling German's Wife. Sunday, September 29, 2013. It's been a long time coming (15 1/2 months), but here is the story of our little Wesman's birth. Of course, my parents weren't in town yet, so we had to drop Vivian at my aunt's house. Thankfully she was home and was able to watch her! I guess it was a good thing I listened to my body and not the on-call doctor! Because I was 36 weeks, 6 days gestation when I went into labor, a NICU team had to be in the room. They did a preliminary check and ...

I do have to mention that recent accomplishments include saying "ight" and pointing at the light on the ceiling fan and figuring out how to feed Cheerios to the dogs (you would think Qui would want to be her BFF for that alone! The Traveling German's Wife. Thursday, June 12, 2014. Two orphans in dire need of our help. This BABY will be in an ADULT institution as of December. Ernie will most likely die from exposure, abuse, or malnutrition within his first year in the institution. Why are these boys being transferred? The Traveling German's Wife. Sunday, August 28, 2011. Oh my goodness. One more month and Vivian will be the big O-N-E! I'd like to report that taking the monthly photos has gotten easier, that she sits well and does not wiggle, and is generally cooperative so that mommy can get. A million cute pics. One nice picture. Alas, that is not the case. I'm going to throw in a few pics we took earlier in the week so you can see how much she's changed. She really is turning into a big girl! Hair bow from Grammy.

Saturday, January 1, 2011. My mother used to make me eat black eyed peas on New Years Day. One for each year I'd lived plus one for good luck in the coming year. I hated black eyed peas as a kid, but now I know that the secret ingredient, as with so many foods, is bacon. 1 medium yellow onion. 2-4 slices of the thickest cut bacon you can find. 1/2 cup white wine. Salt, black pepper, red pepper to taste. 1/2 to 1 lb dry, presoaked, or canned black eyed peas. Sunday, August 22, 2010. I got distracted. ...
