A Ministry of the Strange
Idling Man | Cortijo Grande Musings
https://cortijogrande.wordpress.com/author/butchbaby
A Ministry of the Strange. Thoughts about life in the Spanish rural idyll of El Cortijo Grande, and about dogs and other dubious distractions. Quite a long time back, a very good friend lent me a very old paperback, as he thought I might find it interesting. It was thin and worn, published back in 1990, and entitled “Almeria to Aguilas”. I was interested to see the book included a chapter, teasingly entitled “Cortijo Grande – Happy Valley – Its Myths and Legends. She wrote of the people here as follows,.

A Ministry of the Strange. There are many reasons to love this man. The sonic voice though always does it for me. This man reminded me of me as a youth when I was a youth. A tough one to work out. Frank Zappa. Skim the swedish intro and go straight to the play. This man really does. Another life long companion. Robert Wyatt. I remain totally in awe of the man. Check out his music and if you want to know more, the book. Is very worth a look. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Host for th...

A Ministry of the Strange. Down in the south-eastern corner of the Iberian peninsula is a weird and strangely magical place called Cortijo Grande. It is a place with a curious history, a bizarre recent past, and an extraordinary current situation. I live there. It is, at one time, a place of magnificently fulfilled dreams, as well as the very stuff of nightmares. Weird is my preferred word for it. Weird. But it’s a special weird. It is just plain weird. A Dog’s Life | Cortijo Grande Musings
https://cortijogrande.wordpress.com/a-dogs-life
A Ministry of the Strange. A Dog’s Life. The Spanish, certainly in this area, are really not too concerned about their creatures. It’s a rural community round here and so animals are never really elevated to the status of pet. If they work, or produce, they’re useful. If not, well, they just cost money, so abandonment is not uncommon. That was our good fortune. It’s our turn with the love now though. She won’t be short of it. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. A Ministry of the Strange. Quite a long time back, a very good friend lent me a very old paperback, as he thought I might find it interesting. It was thin and worn, published back in 1990, and entitled “Almeria to Aguilas”. By a lady called Barbara Ambrose. The author was chronicling a trip she took, referred to in the title, describing, with a certain flair, some of her adventures in the places she visited along the way. She wrote of the people here as follows,. The second thing from the book that made ...

Notes on a Spanish Valley. Award-winning blog – Living in rural Andalucia. A gooey creamy salad. I think this is the stickiest, gooiest salad I have ever eaten. Strictly, it is not a salad, more a warm veggie dish. I spotted the recipe in a magazine article and knew it would work as a salad. So I amended it. It ticks quite a few food groups [if you worry about them] and is gorgeously sticky with Gorgonzola [if you love cheese]. What did I change? Serves 2 as a main course. Loads of fresh basil leaves.

Notes on a Spanish Valley. Award-winning blog – Living in rural Andalucia. This little friend appeared silently last night on the wall of the sitting room. He was completely unphased by us, occasionally moving slightly, flicking his tail. Two nights previously we saw a baby gecko, about 4cm long. Similar colouring, pale blush pink. Interestingly, the gecko positioned himself above a floor-standing lamp: lying in wait for moths? 8211; a friend [male/female]. De vez en cuando. August 9, 2015. A love of food.
