Radiation Therapy : The Other Side. Off With The Dressings. Almost back to normal. The images below are of 'DONOR SITES' three are of the skin and tissue remove to cover the void in my skull. The fourth was taken to cover the donor site. It was put though a machine that turned it into the mesh like substance in the first three, then stapled over the site. Above : When I first saw my leg I thought "I'm going to have a ripper scar". Below : The skin and tissue from this site is now on my head.

Waiting to go in for surgery (the surgeons had allowed 8 hours for the procedure) The plan was to remove the infected bone and replace it with muscle from near my left shoulder. During the surgery they discovered several of the silk sutures used to hold the bone flap in from the tumour operation were infected. Rather than exise the bone they drilled / ground out the sutures and surrouding infection. Make a Free Website.

Radiation Therapy : The Other Side. Off With The Dressings. Almost back to normal. The tape on the side reads "do not lay on this side". This was so the blood supply wouldn't be interupted. Umm it's on the side of my head, how am I supposed to read it? A dopla is a device used to check your pulse. Nurses woke me up every 15 minutes for the entire night to check the pulse on the flap to ensure it was alive.How annoying. Make a Free Website.

Radiation Therapy : The Other Side. Off With The Dressings. Almost back to normal. After all of that I had been through, I decided to take a break and drive up to Queensland to visit my Mother. The black dot you can see along the scar line was never to heal. Turns out it was the graft decaying, a fifth operation was scheduled. This was taken after the failed skin graft, The skin continually constricted exposing more and more of my skull. The yellowish substance is infected bone. Make a Free Website.
