We got back to Seattle yesterday from a wonderful, frenetic, busy, relaxing week in New England. I know we did with the only unfortunate bit being the limited amount of time I could take off from work, oh and being sick the whole week of New Years. Oh well, there is always next year! Saturday, May 21, 2011. Spinach Ikan Bilis Soup. A handful of ikan bilis, rinsed with water. 3 cloves of garlic, smashed and skinned. 3 slices of ginger. 1 no tomato, wedged. 1 bunch of round spinach, rinsed and plucked. 2 nos preserved plums, squeezed. 1 packet of fresh fishballs. 1 packet soft beancurd. 12 litres of water. Fry the garlic and ginger in 3 tbsp of oil till fragrant. Add in the ikan bilis and fry for another minute or two. Add in the fish balls and after they are cooked, add in the spinach.

What people who dont live in Manhattan might not realize is that each neighborhood has its own character. Ive been exploring mostly the West side because that is where I lived in temporary housing and where I now live in our permanent abode. For restaurant suggestions all around the city.
